The Offer

Direct Link

Amazon Cash is a new program which allows us to add funds to an Amazon account in a retail store like CVS, Speedway, Sheetz, Family Fare and more. As part of the full rollout, Amazon has a special offer:

  • Get $10 in Amazon digital credit when you add $50 to your Amazon account in-store using the Amazon Cash program

The $10 credit can be used in the following digital categories: Appstore, Kindle books, Digital Video, Digital Music, Digital Software, and Digital Video Games. Your discount will automatically be applied at checkout.

After you add $50 or more to your Amazon Balance using Amazon Cash, you will receive an email confirming that your $10 digital credit has automatically been added to your Amazon account. The discount will automatically be applied at checkout.

The Fine Print

  • Offer valid through May 31
  • The $10 digital credit will be valid through June 30
  • One per Amazon account
  • You need to add $50 or more in one transaction to qualify for this offer

Our Verdict

It’s not much, but if you have a use for Amazon digital credit should be easy to head over to CVS or one of the other options and add $50 in order to get the $10 credit.

I guess it could be worth it for the occasional movie rental.

The deal seems to clearly indicate that using AmazonCash is cash-only, however, if anyone ends up having any luck loading AmazonCash with a CC, please let us know where you were able to do it, and if you took any special steps. I’ll try today at CVS and try to be the first DP.

If this works with CCs and/or Android Pay, this deal would be a good opportunity to try and double dip with the recent American Express Offers $5 statement credit Android Pay deal.

if CC works, this would probably activate Chase Freedom’s 5% in drugstore this quarter?

I recently realized (albeit late) that Amazon digital credits can be used towards purchasing PSN store Cards. These will come in handy in my case. Thanks for posting.

I just loaded $50 at CVS. I paid with my amex plat (min spend) without issue! Doesn’t need to be cash only.

I did the same. Walked to register, told cashier I wanted to buy this thing on my phone and showed the barcode. She hesitantly scanned it and then was prompted for the amount to load. Next, the card reader displayed a lengthy reminder about not getting scammed via prepaid card purchases and required acknowledgement. I then used my Chase Freedom and got my receipt. Email from Amazon confirming load came a few seconds later. Promotion confirmation email came a minute after that. Cashier had never heard of the Amazon Cash thing before.

YMMV on this one. I went to a CVS in San Francisco, and not only had they never heard of Amazon Cash, nothing pulled up on their screens when they scanned my Amazon Cash barcode.

I also just used my Freedom to do this… the cashier said she thought it would not work… but sailed right thru.
got both emails, for the reload and bonus as well.

Was able to do this at CVS self check out. Was going to try gift card but a message immediately popped up they weren’t accepted. Paid with freedom. Got the bonus almost immediately. Plan to use it for a disney movie to link to my dma account.

CVS Boston area worked fine for CC checkout. Reload and the email with the $10 bonus code was immediate.

The cashiers in the nearest CVS to me in DC area told me they have no idea what Amazon Cash is.

that’s typical… just tell them to scan the barcode just like any other item and the register will navigate them.
or use self-check out.

My local CVS was willing to accept CC when I did the load to my first Amazon account. However, today they told me that its cash only when I went to load on my 2nd Amazon account. Will try another CVS store later.
