You can get a $5 Amazon/Toys R Us/ Starbucks gift card for about 5 minutes of your time.
Bing Rewards
We’ve previously reviewed Bing Rewards. Basically, they give rewards such as gift cards for using the Bing search engine. You can see all the details here.
Bing Rewards is now offering a signup bonus of 550 points, which is enough to redeem for a $5 gift card. Some options are gift cards from: Amazon,Toys R Us,Starbucks,Domino’s and Applebee’s.
Here’s what to do:
- First, create an Outlook email account (if you don’t have one already) here.
- Then go to this link to get to Bing Rewards. This is not the regular Bing signup page; it’s a special page with a signup bonus.
- Signup for Bing Rewards.
- You’ll see the 550 Bing credits in your account.
- Redeem for a $5 gift card.
- Receive the gift card within 24 hours.
When redeeming your rewards the system will ask you for a cellphone number, and they’ll send a text message with a code to enter. Reportedly, the system won’t accept Google Voice numbers.
Go For More?
Some folks have had success opening numerous Bing accounts with numerous Outlook accounts and getting a $5 gift card on each account. At some point (after 8 or 9 tries) Bing catches on and will stop you from opening new accounts. But it seems possible to get the $5 a number of times before they stop you.
You may need different phone numbers to do this since they verify your phone number when you go to redeem the points. As we mentioned, Google Voice won’t work for this.
[Update: Reader Univs says that you can use one phone number for multiple accounts. He cautions that you can only have 5 Bing accounts per IP address before getting banned.]
Our Verdict
I just saw this deal a few minutes ago, and I easily opened the accounts and redeemed for a $5 Amazon gift card. I haven’t done a second account yet. Maybe I’ll try a second one some time soon.
Happy Binging!
[Update: I received my $5 Amazon gift card in under 24 hours.]
