[Targeted]$10 Discount At Amazon.com When You Redeem Discover Points/Cashback For The First Time

This post was first published on September 28th, Amazon/Discover started running a new promotion on the 16th of December so we’ve updated and republished this post with the new code.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Receive a $10 discount from Amazon.com when you do a Discover points redemption with Amazon.com. Make sure you enter the promotional code SWP10CBB Code is now SWP10CBB3 in the check out page and that Discover Cashback Bonus is used for at least part of your payment.

This offer is targeted, if you click the direct link and are logged in and don’t see any mention of the bonus then you weren’t targeted for it. You can still try chatting with an Amazon rep or calling Discover to get it applied to your account though.

discover amazon $10

The Fine Print

  • Not available if you’ve redeemed your Discover cashback/points at Amazon.com before
  • Can only be used on qualifying products shipped and sold by Amazon.com or its affiliates
  • You must select Discover Cashback Bonus as your method of payment
  • Cannot be combined or used with any other offer
  • Valid until December 31st, 2014

Our Verdict

Usually I wouldn’t recommend using your Discover cashback for Amazon redemption, because $1 cash back = $1 at Amazon but when you’re getting a $10 discount you might as well if you already have plans to make a purchase. Remember you can also currently get a $10 credit from Amazon.com when you change your 1-click payment settings.

Tips for getting this to work

  • Add the discover points first, then try to apply the promo code
  • You might need to initiate a conversation with an Amazon rep to get this code applied to your account correctly.
  • You can also call Discover directly to try and get this promotion added to your account. People are reporting that they were able to get the $10 credit added to their Amazon account without even making a purchase.

Since there are so often free amazon credit promotions, we’ve also created a new category on the blog which catalogs these which can be viewed by clicking here. You can view our full review of the Discover credit cards below:

I just succeeded as well! $25 AMC Movies gc for $15.
I first called Discover, they were not able to help me.
Amazon helped me right away, didn’t even ask me if I had been targeted or not.
The best thing is to have website w/ checkout page open so you can see it go through, as one actually has to purchase item before agent applies code.
Thanks!

Thanks for the tip – I used $.01 from my Discover Cash Back to get $10 off a $25 Gift Card that will make a wonderful Christmas Present. I was not targeted for this offer, but the code “SWP10CBB3” still worked for me.

Just like Mordy, I contacted them and they reflected the $10 off.

This has been reported to be a TARGETED offer but you can contact Amazon and they will give you the promo, at least for me they did (even without using any Discover Cashback)

The first two times I ordered the item from an Amazon associate store because it was cheaper. I tried again from the Amazon store and received the same error message.

I used the promotional code SWP10CBB and used $5.00 of my Discover points on a $26.00 Amazon purchase and received the following error message: “The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase”.

I tried this on both mine and my wife’s Amazon account and received the same error message.
