Our Verdict

When I initially saw this deal earlier today, I assumed the $10 credit was for Music purchases only; that’s not a good deal being that all of us have Citi cards and can get a $30 credit instead. However, being that this deal gives free $10 Amazon credit, not limited to music, this deal will be superior for many (most?) people who either are happy with their current music provider or aren’t interested in music at all. For those who want to try out the music subscription, it could be worth forgoing the $10 Amazon credit and getting 4-5 months with the Citi deal.

A reader notes that this $10 Amazon deal stacks with the Citi deal to get free 4-5 months. I tried it and found the same.

Here’s how to go about getting both deals:

  1. Use the Citi link to link that offer to your account. Read our previous post for more details on that.  Click ‘Get Started’, but do not click Start Your Free Trial on the next screen.
  2. Go to this link and enter promo code MUSIC1
  3. Go to this link and signup for Amazon Music Unlimited under the individual plan. You’ll see the Citi promo showing, you won’t see anything about the MUSIC1 promo showing, but it’s saved since you already input that code.
  4. Now that you’re signed up, you’ll see the Citi promo information showing in your Music Unlimited account. Be sure to notate your calendar to cancel before promo ends; I’m not sure if you can cancel right away and keep the 4-5 months free.
  5. You’ll get the $10 Amazon credit for regular shopping on Amazon.com within a few minutes. Credit expires at the end of October.
  6. The $10 credit even works on $25 third-party physical gift cards and $25 third-party e-gift cards (e.g. Whole Foods, Uber, AirBnB, Netflix, Lowe’s) which makes it easy to use right away if you aren’t convinced you’ll make an eligible Amazon purchase before the end of October or if you’re doing the deal on a spare Amazon account which you don’t use for everyday purchases.

If you aren’t interested in the 4-5 month trial:

  1. Go to this link and enter promo code MUSIC1
  2. Go to this link and signup for any Amazon Music Unlimited plan.
  3. You’ll get the $10 Amazon credit for regular shopping on Amazon.com within a few minutes. Credit expires at the end of October.
  4. You can immediately cancel the music trial here

We really appreciate those who you use our affiliate links in this post to signup for Amazon Music. I don’t think you’d get any JetBlue points regardless since you aren’t paying anything, so it’s a win-win situation.

Does anyone recently have an issue with using the $10 credit?

On the order summary (discount summary), it shows $10 to Amazon.com promo, but only takes $0.01 off.

Thanks!

I just used mine to purchase an e-giftcard. Went through fine, showed the $10 promotional balance and spent $15 for a $25 card.

Even though Amazon said they were out of the deal, it still worked for me and my boyfriend today. So YMMV.

Has to be shipped from and by amazon, not third party sellers. It will say in bold text below the item.
