[Expired]$300 KeyBank Checking Sign Up Bonus [AK, CO, ID, IN, ME, MI, NY, OH, OR, UT, VT, or WA only]

There is a new bonus for $200, but it’s not nearly as good as this bonus. You can find a list of the best bank bonuses by going here.

We’re reposting this offer as it has been extended and there is a new promotional code as well.

Offer at a glance

  • Maximum bonus amount: $300
  • Availability: AK, CO, ID, IN, ME, MI, NY, OH, OR, UT, VT, or WA only
  • Direct deposit required: Yes, a total of at least $500 within 60 days of account opening. Almost any ACH transfer should trigger this requirement, click here to see what has worked in the past.
  • Additional requirements:
  • Hard/soft pull: Soft
  • Credit card funding: Up to $100
  • Monthly fees: None – $18, waive-able
  • Early account termination fee: $25 if closed within 180 days of opening
  • Expiration date: December 25th, 2015 January 1st, 2016

The Fine Print

  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them
  • Offer is available to new bank clients who have not had any type of account with KeyBank within the last 12 months
  • Direct deposit transactions are limited to payroll, Social Security, pension and government benefits, although in the past other direct deposits have triggered this bonus.
  • Bonus will post within 90 days of meeting the requirements
  • Qualifying accounts are:  Key Express Checking® (this is the basic banking account in NY), Key Advantage®, Key Coverage Checking®, Key PrivilegeSM, Key Privilege Select CheckingSM, or KeyBank Hassle-Free Account®

Avoiding Fees

Hassle Free Checking Account

The best account to open  is the Hassle Free Checking account which has no monthly fees or monthly minimums.

Early Account Termination Fee $25

If you close your account within 180 days, you are required to pay an early account closure fee of $25

Our Verdict

This is the best offer KeyBank has ever offered, in the past they have given $200 for the hassle free account or $300 for Key Advantage account (which is much harder to keep fee free than the hassle free account). Because it’s so easy to meet the direct deposit requirement and keep this account fee free (and the size of the bonus) we’ve added it to our best bank bonus page. It can also be found in our complete listing of all bank account bonuses found here.

It might also be worth keeping the account open after receiving the bonus, not only to avoid the early account termination fee but also because KeyBank has in the past sent out targeted $50 offers when they hadn’t been using their accounts much.

A tiny deposit minimum, and easy to keep the account fee free. Outstanding.

Does not work. Offer requires a reservation code.

I wonder if you can reside in another state as long as you open the account at a branch in one of the states mentioned ??

I just tried online and it says we do not offer accounts in your area.
But thats a good question though.
You never know.

Generally, if the offer allows it to be redeemed within the branch (not just online), then if you physically go to the branch you will most likely still receive the bonus.

Some of the comments make it appear that this offer has expired or requires an additional reservation code, but if you travel through the area and are willing to forego any credit card funding, Key Bank (as others) do not limit their accounts to only the states they reside in if you physically visit one of their branches. I travel frequently and having access to local ATMs is advantageous, with the bonus being the icing on the cake.

Chatted with an agent, was told that the only working code without reservation was the one here https://www.key.com/personal/promotions/switch/account-selector-ps.jsp?sqkl=offerended_crossell_ONAS1015

The offer is $200 now. Looks like the Dr. posted this one and just left it on autopilot for everyone to waste their time on.

Norm

Chris,

Your comment is excessively unkind. The “Dr.” maintains a website that provides a wealth of financially beneficial information for free. It’s up to us to take advantage of what we can and to discard the rest. Rein it in or go elsewhere.

Chris
Chris

Sorry Norman, didn’t mean to offend you. I’ll try to rein it in. But if you don’t mind, I’ll probably keep checking for additional info (preferably more up-to-date, if you know what I mean) elsewhere at the same time. Would that be o.k. with you?

dude just shut it. what he meant to say, although too politely, is your fucking R>U>D>E. the readers here like to be part of a community and you’re not helping, complaining; like you’re upset at the teacher for too much homework. if the dr. made a mistake then that’s fine, we all do. i can’t believe someone would actually be so impolite to an awesome blogger who doesnt litter the internet with trash and genuinely cares about content. youre unbelievable. wish there was a way for people like u to be banned:-)

Chris
Chris

Lol & Yikes. Mark, Mark. Chill dude. If you’re really concerned with being “R>U>D>E”, you might want to watch the offensive swearing. We’re talking about a checking account bonus here. Get a grip. Sheesh.

Chris,
Please stop with the poorly chosen and snarky comments. Nothing of value is added by criticizing either the board or its members.
