- Maintain at least the minimum Qualifying Balance(s) in your eligible business checking account (Fusion Professional, Fusion Smart or Fusion First Account) for 90 calendar days from the date you deposit the minimum Qualifying Balance.
The Fine Print
- Business Banking/Fusion New Customer: This offer is only valid for new Eligible Accounts opened during the Offer Period in a U.S. HSBC branch or by calling 833.722.HSBC (4722) during which a valid personalized referral code is provided by the new customer.

- As described below, you must meet your minimum Qualifying Balance within 30 calendar days.
- Account opening date is considered day one of the 30 calendar days count.
- Customers who currently hold, or have held in the past 3 years, any HSBC business account are not eligible.

- Limit one Referral Bonus per new business account.
- A business customer can use only one referral code at the time of account opening.
- For both you and the individual/business who referred you, the bonus deposit(s) to your Eligible Account will be reported on the applicable IRS form.
- You and the individual/business who referred you may be responsible for any tax resulting from the Referral Bonus.
- Please consult your tax advisor if you have questions about the tax treatment of the Referral Bonus.
- Note: Estate and Trust accounts are ineligible to make referrals or be referred under this offer. Retain for your records.

Avoiding Fees
Monthly Fees
Fusion First is the easiest account to keep fee free. This account has a $30 monthly fee that is waived if you if your qualifying commercial non-credit balance is equal to or greater than $5,000 (also a requirement for the bonus)
Early Account Termination Fee
$25 fee if closed within 180 days
Our Verdict
Previous best offer was for $250 with the same requirements. This is an extra $50 and can also be opened via phone rather than in branch only. Because of this I will be adding this to our list of the best business checking bonuses. You can find and share HSBC referrals in this linked post.

Nevermind
I’m not sure this promotion is still active. A couple months ago I had scheduled calls with HSBC on two separate occasions to open up a business checking account but had not been called back at the scheduled times. It took calling in to find out the since they are exiting the US market they aren’t opening any new accounts. Has anyone else been able to open an account since June 2?

I tried for several days to get an appointment to open a a business checking account in person (as the offer requires) but was finally told it’s not possible as parts of HSBC will be acquired by Cathay.
“Thank you for interested in the HSBC Business checking account. however, due to HSBC new Business strategy ( More details and FAQs can be found at us.hsbc.com/GoingForward ) , we are no longer offer promotion for New business clients.”
Just saw this on the application. Is this a hard pull? “If you have a security freeze on your credit bureau, you’ll need to temporarily lift any freeze placed. We’ll use your credit information to verify your identity.”
This bank is Awful.
HSBC finally paid out the $300 bonus, over 3 months late and after filing a CFPB report and calling no less than 5 people 10+ times over the span of several weeks!! Comically bad banking experience from start to finish, won’t be dealing with these drug smugglers again.
10/1: Account opened (took 4 weeks)
10/23: Deposited $5000
3/15: Called and emailed banker, told bonus would be received within 8 weeks
4/6: Filed CFPB complaint
4/23-5/15: Calling various HSBC numbers including my banker
5/27: $300 bonus received
Did any one get bonus who Opened account in January?
Did anyone save a screenshot of the offer when it was available? I filed CFPB complaint and they agreed to pay $200 bonus citing current offer for Fusion First account, but I think original offer was $300 for the same account.
I’m not sure what changed after 1/31/2021.
Filing a CFPB report was absolutely useless for me. What worked for me was calling my banker that opened the account and other people in that branch 10 times in the span of 3 weeks. That got them to finally do something and the bonus magically appeared in my account this week, 3 months late.

In my attempt to do this page’s offer, it looks like I lucked into receiving the offer for that link’s offer, so an extra $100, even though I applied over the phone, against their terms. By my representative clearly mentioned the welcome offer over the phone.
How do you know the offer has been applied? Did you get any confirmation email ? Pls let us know.
I still don’t have the account set up. I just have the pdf of the offer that was emailed to me by the HSBC rep.
Hopefully that can be used to justify to get the bonus (or) if they don’t pay – that email/pdf will be helpful to file CFPB complaint. Good Luck!
HSBC has sent me 2 letters of acknowledgment of my filed CFPB claim, but no action yet. Worst bank ever!
