Check your Kroger coupons for the following offers:
- Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on Visa and Mastercard $100, $50, or $25 fixed-value gift cards. (Does not work on variable-load Visa/MC gift cards.)
- Save a digital coupon to get 4x fuel points on third party gift cards (with some exclusions).
You should see these coupons for all Kroger-family brands. Deal usually becomes available at Harris Teeter as well in roughly the same time period. Typically, gift cards earn 2x, and occasionally they’ll put out offers like these to bump it up to 4x.

Remember to use a card that earns at a high rate on grocery store purchases. There is also a Chase offer for 10% back.

can someone please suggest alternatives other than amazon? Is the visa giftcard worth it? how can you drain the visa giftcard after you purchase it?
For those in panic mode, while this is not good news, 2x points still provides decent value for Amazon. Assuming you can maximize 35 gallons per fill-up, you use a method of payment providing a minimum of 5% cashback, and assuming for conservatism Kroger gas is 20 cents higher (YMMV of course) than an alternative gas station, 2x fuel points is only 5.6% more expensive than 4x fuel points. It still represents, for me, a 10.6% discount (only 5.6% based on other 5% cashback payment methods for Amazon gift cards direct at other stores) on all Amazon purchases. This beats the Amazon credit card as well.

Is Amazon gc excluded?
Yes. That happened last month, as well. Signs are posted in the store. It appears to be a permanent change. End of an era. It was great while it lasted.
Does this 4x coupon work only on 1 transaction. Saying this because I tried in February and the 1st transaction earned 4x points but went back in the store next day to get some more and those did not earn 4x. Although they did deposit the extra fuel points upon calling them.

This is a huge blow to our strategy. We spend about $600 on Amazon a month all on 4x GCs at Kroger. I was saving $1/ gallon gas every fill up. Also stacked with the 5x Chase offer on first year freedom card, or 4x AMEX Gold, will lose serious points if this is permanent.

Check your receipt to make sure you actually get 4x. Bought some gift cards tonight and got 2x. Had to call customer service to get the extra 2x added to my account.
same. got 2x on shell & amazon. autozone was 4x after apply easter 4x digital coupon. after I called, they ended up giving 4x on shell & amazon even though in-store there’s a paper tag that said amazon effective 3/20/24 is 2x.
DO NOT purchase gift cards at Kroger stores.
I don’t care how many fuel points you’ll get.
I don’t care if you earn points/miles or cashback on the purchase with your credit cards.
Because if you do and then discover there are no funds on the card you will experience weeks and weeks of lengthy phone cals and emails with no resolution. Supervisors have now perfected their tactic of saying “The situation has been escalated, allow another 10 business days”. And then, after another two weeks, they simply say it again after another 25 minute phone call. And again.
Even with a case number assigned to your situation. It means nothing.
Eventually there will be a class action lawsuit for consumers who have been victimized. Keep all documentation. That day will come, and if there’s a maximum in fines or penalties it will be easily achieved.
I have purchased 100s of Amazon gift cards at Kroger, never a problem.
In speaking with others Amazon cards specifically have had fewer issues overall. But they may be more secure in general. Still, if you’d like to spin the wheel again anyway, try taking your chances with VISA ($500, hacked, 2 months for a refund), Home Depot ($300, worthless by the time we got to their store only 1/2 mile away), another VISA ($100, worthless when trying to activate, 3 weeks to replace), among others.
Hey Mikey…i don’t know if this would help. But I was really weary with giftcard fraud like you…what I do is I only purchased giftcards that you have to manually input the giftcard amount at the register (not the ones that already have fixed amount, e.g. $25, $50, $100, etc)…that way, I think the criminals are less likely to steal it because they have no way of knowing how much you can going to put into the giftcards befordhand. I also always use “self-checkout” because who knows if the cashier could be part of the criminal rings…
The same, but I am still a bit iffy about them. In addition to the above, I usually grab them from the middle of the pack, check the seals, and try to burn them as quickly as possible.
Never had this issue either. Always check to see if card was tampered.
I purchased amazon $100 gc x 2 at kroger and both have the codes scratched out. had to live chat with amazon and they had to apply it manually after getting photos sent to escalations. thankfully, no one else applied the code. if you buy amazon, the $10×3 pack is secure, but any other one, take a peak underneath and make it is at least sealed with the code hidden.
Strongly agree. Last Thanksgiving I bought an Amazon gift card from Kroger. It turned out a tampered card by some scammer. Kroger customer service refused any help. Maybe it is a time to a class suit. Any lawyer here interested?

The Flex came with 5x gas/grocery first year and the current quarter is grocery so 4x for the quarter and 4x for the sign up bonus and 1x base.
wait so freedom flex gets 9% cash back for grocery and gas the first year if that quarter has them as the 5% rotating category?
9X for Q1 for groceries. 5x rest of the year. I believe you had to be referred to it to get the 5X 12 months groceries. Next Q has Amazon and rumor has it Whole Foods is included and they supposedly have gift cards too, so potentially another 9X for Q2.
