Alaska To Improve Lounges In Portland, Anchorage, Los Angeles, and Seattle + New 15,800 Lounge In Seattle

Alaska has announced that they will be making enhancements to lounges in Portland, Anchorage, Los Angeles, and Seattle. These enhancements include:

  • A refreshed look and feel featuring new comfortable furniture, warm finishes and a welcoming vibe;
  • Barista stations so that you can get your custom-crafted Starbucks® espresso beverages or loose-leaf Teavana® tea just the way you like them from an Alaska Lounge Barista; and
  • Meals for purchase, starting at just $8. You can buy fresh, filling, high-quality and affordable food to enjoy in the lounges or take to-go.

They will also be opening a new 15,800 square feet lounge at Seattle. This is scheduled to open in the first half on 2019 Sea-Tac’s North Satellite terminal.

They already had meals for purchase at LAX this June 2018; nothing interesting, TBH.

I wanted to get a free egg for breakfast, which they always had at SEA; but LAX, they didn’t have any free boiled eggs, and wanted to sell me an omelet from their menu; upon inquiring further, it turned out to be just the standard microwavable pre-made turnover omelet with American cheese inside, as they have in 2.5★ hotels; not really something I’d want to pay any extra money for; I’d rather prefer the free boiled egg or two, but they didn’t have any at all in LAX…

Lol. I thought AX is opening 15800 lounges in Seattle. That would be spectacular. Amen

man that’s a bummer…their ambiance is fine, their food is the worst. even at SEA it’s basically salad, fruit, cheese cubes, and soup

You’ve misquoted the AS terms. PP holders CAN access lounges at LAX, PDX, and ANC, but no longer at SEA. Limited access when full, limited 2 immediate family guests at all times.

As a DP, I was in the Boardroom in LAX last month with no problems or restrictions.

A complete lack of showers is a major letdown for Alaska’s lounge product, and it seems that this improvement program won’t address this.

When connecting to or from a long haul leg, being able to feel clean and refreshed is more important to me than a bar or “free” food.

For me, being able to sleep is most important (some lounges have recliners for that purpose and ask people to keep quiet). Food is the next most important thing and I don’t really care about anything else.

I’m not opposed to this. Alaska lounges tend to have mediocre food options, so you can stick with those for free, or pay a modest amount for what I hope is a good meal. There are times when I’ve skipped the Alaska lounge just so I can get a decent meal.

Thanks for sharing an interesting perspective (they offer mediocre food so we need to pay them more)!

They are risking going a bit too far with this, next steps could include ‘you can pay $10 to enjoy a refreshing glass of water in our comfortable lounge’ and ‘you can pay an affordable $50 fee to enjoy our lounge when traveling in first class on AS metal’?

Seconded…I was recently denied entry at LAX but only because I was coming from an arriving flight, they would have let me in otherwise

It’s been very hit or miss for me. I’ve noticed that they really micromanage having the sign out too.
