The Offer
- Members will receive 2,000 Welcome Bonus miles if, within three months of registering, fly with Alitalia or its Partner Airlines or if they use the services offered by the Program’s Commercial Partners.
- Members will receive additional 2,000 bonus miles if, within three months of registering, fly with Alitalia.
The Fine Print
- Valid until November 30th, 2017
Earn Activity
You need to earn some partner miles to earn 2,000 miles of the sign up bonuses.
- Complete a booking with PointsHound. This site lets you earn airline miles for hotel bookings and they partner with Alitalia (competitors Rocketmiles & Kaligo do not partner with them. You can quickly compare the three here).
- Purchase something from the online store. Nothing is cheap, cheapest I found was €16.00 for a kids basket ball cap. I presume they will also want to charge excessive shipping fees as well.
Our Verdict
Normally I wouldn’t post a terrible offer like this, especially with Alitalia struggling as much as they are ( last I heard RyanAir was looking to take over the airline but that looks to have fallen through) but severals readers sent this through thinking they would receive 4,000 miles just for joining and that isn’t the case. Personally this is an easy skip for me.
So do you get 2,000 just for joining
and 2,000 for flying Alitalia?
Or 2000 for joining AND flying Alitalia
and another 2000 for flying Alitalia? This is contradictory and confusing.
Joining and flying, made the title clearer. Then another 2,000 for partner activity.
“Members will receive 2,000 Welcome Bonus miles if, within three months of registering, fly with Alitalia or its Partner Airlines or if they use the services offered by the Program’s Commercial Partners.
Members will receive additional 2,000 bonus miles if, within three months of registering, fly with Alitalia.”
“You need to earn some miles to earn the 4,000 mile sign up bonuses. You could complete a flight, but if you don’t have any planned with them here are some other options:”
Aren’t those two quotes contradictory? Based on the first quote, it sounds like you’ll need to complete a flight with Alitalia for the full 4k bonus, whereas only using a partner service will net you just the 2k.
They sure are, let me update.
I kinda agree with you. This is a terrible offer. So instead of wasting your time and our time, perhaps you don’t do something like this again.
One thing I have to say, most posts on this site is very informational and helpful. Keep doing your good work. As always, THANK YOU!
As I mention in the post, the reason I posted is that a lot of people think this was 4,000 miles just for signing up (it’s not terribly clear).
Got it. Thanks a lot.
