The Offer

Direct Link to offer (affiliate links here and below)

  • Amazon is selling a Microsoft 365 Family (12 month Microsoft Office subscription for 6 users) for $99. Plus you get a free $50 Amazon gift card.

The Fine Print

  • Limit 2
  • Offer ends at midnight PT tonight (11/28)

Our Verdict

This used to be called Microsoft Office 365 Home and now is rebranded to Microsoft 365 Family. It offers 6 people a 12-month Microsoft Office subscription for $99 which is the regular price, and with this deal you get a bonus $50 Amazon physical gift card thrown in free.

In the past, readers have said it’s possible to use this to add to an existing subscription. (Apparently, up to 4 years of extension can be done. Beyond that, you can save the code and use it a later date, I suppose.)

Note, some people might prefer buying the download version instead of the subscription version. Do some research to decide which model and version is best for you.

Also note, this purchase through Amazon sets up an Amazon auto renewal of the Microsoft 365 product. It also converts your Microsoft account billing to be managed through Amazon’s subscription page. You need to go in and make sure to turn off the auto renew feature on the Amazon subscription page.

I’d recommend that people use OpenOffice or LibreOffice instead. Does most of what Microsoft Office does, for free.

There are conflicting comments about this.. when you buy this 12 month Family subscription through Amazon does the subscription begin on the date you purchase it?

I’ve purchased the same thing from NewEgg before.. but the subscription begins from the date you decide to activate it.

If someone could please clear this up for us we’d appreciate it!  Chuck

I bought this last year and it extended my existing subscription by one year with little hassle, in my case through June 2022. Just bought the current deal, but it didn’t look to extend my existing subscription. Instead on my Amazon account I have two active subscriptions, the original one ending June 2022, and a new one ending December 2022. Only difference is the new one has a “Activate Subscription” button that I can click. Not sure if I should click on that or just try and cancel the order.

Actually I think everything is fine. I refreshed the manage subscriptions page and it seemed to have combined the two products and extended the expiration.

I subscribed earlier today but only paid $49.98 instead of getting a $50 amazon gift card. I double checked and it did say I would get a gift card but looks like the $50 was subtracted at purchase – at least for me.

Microsoft will have to pry my Office 2010 user key out of my cold dead hands before I pay for a “subscription”

I remember this offer was available in the summer two years ago too. Is it still twice a year, or now only around the year-end holidays?

Re “adding to an existing subscription”: It did not happen to me. The subscription through Amazon displaced my original subscription through Microsoft. Now I am chatting with a MSFT rep to resolve the issue.

Anyone tried price matching to OfficeDepot and use rewards there?
