Costco had the 10 piece set for 100 on clearance last month. (one less keypad, one less motion detector and 2 less sensors). Got a couple of them and now have an extra hub :),

Would Ring Price match to Amazon prime offer? There is a 20% back Amex offer. So if pricematch works we can get the same from Ring for $160 for those who have Amex offer.

Despite being amazon owned, I really like the Neighbors app so that I can see what’s happening in my area. I actually got some help finding a hit and run in front of my house because of the number of peopel in my neighborhood using RIng.

Don’t forget to go through a shopping portal. This is one of the only things that Amazon is offering cash back on…WWJD

Amazon owns ring. I wouldn’t trust Amazon with my security.

Those articles are from 3 years ago. Ring was a bit of a disaster for a bit. I still haven’t made the plunge but I know many who have. I will attest when I got bit by a dog at a job site, luckily someone had a ring camera to catch it on camera so the owner couldn’t deny it had happened.

Ring cameras have been involved in previous hacking incidents where outsiders were able to intercept Ring video footage and take control of Ring cameras in people’s homes. Ring has released fixes for some of these security flaws, including two-factor authentication and end-to-end encryption. But these fixes sometimes require you, the user, to manually enable them, which can still leave people vulnerable.

Ring also maintains questionable partnerships with hundreds of police departments across the United States. Vice Media’s Motherboard has described these partnerships as “secret agreements,” and say they’ve made it easy for police to request video footage from Ring owners through the Neighbors app.8 Media outlets have also reported that police departments use the Ring’s Neighbors app to conduct surveillance.

If you choose to use Ring cameras, we recommend that you do not use Ring’s Neighbor’s app. And if you do use the app, then we recommend that you do not respond to public requests for surveillance footage posted by law enforcement.

We also recommend that you enable all available Ring security features, including two-factor authentication and end-to-end encryption.

Way overblown. For the first one, someone must be be locally capturing all packets as you’re setting the device up. For the second, they were Ring employees. Most people using Ring cameras are for outside their home.
