Amazon & Synchrony Partner Up To Offer Amazon Credit Builder (Secured Credit Card)

Amazon & Synchrony have partnered up to launch a new secured credit card call Amazon Credit Builder. The card comes with no annual or application fees and requires users to put down a security deposit when approved, the amount of the security deposit is the credit limit you receive. Users that show responsible credit use (e.g on time payments) can then graduate to the standard Amazon card. In addition if somebody applies for that card directly and is denied, they will be given the option to apply for the secured card (unclear if a second hard pull is done, but I think not).

The card also comes with a rewards program, if a cardholder has a prime card then they can earn 5% cash back on all Amazon purchases. Users will also receive a sign up bonus of $10 upon account opening. This secured card is only usable on Amazon.com, it’ll still be useful for some readers who want 5% back and can’t get approved for other cards but it’s not as useful as the Discover it Secured card that is accepted everywhere Discover is accepted for example.

It’s weird this is being talked about as news today, they’ve been offering it since February. I guess today must be an “official” launch.

Yeah, I know several people who got it when it was launched months ago. Also the app process is a little different then DoC describes. When you app for the store card you are essentially app’ing for both. Based on your profile Synch will grant you the regular or the secured.

Also the SUB is $60 now.

Yeah, it’s all over the news today (not just here) but this confirms it’s been around since Feb: https://ficoforums.myfico.com/t5/Credit-Cards/Amazon-Prime-Store-Card-Credit-Builder/td-p/5504315

Looks like if you are logged out, it is a $10 gift card and if you are logged into a prime account it is a $40 gift card.
