[Expired] Amazon: Use One Citi ThankYou Point & Get 40%/50% Discount, Up To $10/$15 Discount (Works On Giftcards)

Deal has ended, view more Amazon deals by clicking here.

Update 12/14/21: More people targeted.

Update 11/8/21: Deal is back through 12/31/21, this time it’s for 40% off or 50% offer (updated below). Not working for me, perhaps because I used it last time. Worth checking the link to see if you are eligible. (ht Dansdeals)

The Offer

Direct Link to offer  (affiliate links here and below)

There’s a brand new Amazon deal working for some:

  • Get 40% or 50% off products shipped and sold by Amazon when you use at least one Citi ThankYou point. Max discount $10/$15.

Must first activate the offer here. Here’s how to go about doing this deal:

  1. (Link your Citi ThankYou account to your Amazon account if you haven’t already; note, you often have to wait 24 hours after registering your card until you can activate the offer)
  2. Add products shipped and sold by Amazon to your shopping cart
  3. Proceed to checkout & select your Citi ThankYou card as your payment method
  4. Select the amount of ThankYou Points you’d like to use for the purchase (we recommend using just 1 point)
  5. 20% discount will automatically be applied at checkout

The Fine Print

  • The promotion will end at 11:59PM PST on 12/31/2021, or when all offers have been redeemed
  • This is a limited-time offer to get 20% off your eligible purchase(s), up to a maximum aggregate value of $30 off, when using ThankYou Points for all or part of your purchase(s) when the promotional code is entered at checkout.
  • To redeem the offer, you must be logged into an Amazon.com account, have an eligible Citi credit card loaded into that Amazon.com account, and use ThankYou Points to pay for all or part of your purchase(s).
  • This offer is not available to eligible Citi cardmembers who have previously used ThankYou Points to shop at Amazon.com in the past twelve (12) months.
  • Eligible purchases excludes taxes, gift-wrap, and shipping and handling charges.
  • The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $30. Limit one promotional code per eligible Amazon.com account.
  • Shipping charges may apply to items purchased using the promotional code.
  • Offer only applies to eligible products sold by Amazon.com. Offer excludes digital content.
  • Offer may not be combined with other offers. Offer is available to eligible Citi cardmembers and is non-transferable, is not redeemable for cash, and may not be resold.
  • Offer discount will be allocated proportionally among each promotional items in your original order in which you used the promotional code. If any of the items in your original order are subsequently returned, your refund will equal the original price of the product, less the proportional amount of the discount. The total discount applied at purchased will be prorated and deducted from the amount of refunds or credits. This may result in the total discount on unreturned items being less than 20%.
  • Products returned are subject to Amazon’s refund policy.
  • If you violate any of these terms, the offer will be invalid.
  • Promotional codes (including those placed directly in Amazon.com accounts) may not be redeemed for Amazon Gift Cards.

Our Verdict

This worked for me on one account but not another, likely because it only works on an account that already has a Citi ThankYou card which is enrolled in shop-with-points. Max this out with $150 in purchases. Based on the fine print and past experiences, this offer should work across multiple separate Amazon purchases.

Works on gift card purchases as well. Samples gift cards available on Amazon:

Just a head’s up on ordering gift cards through these deals – recent orders via Amazon have been sent without receipts showing activation (so you don’t know how much any particular card is when ordering variable cards), and I just had a mis-delivered package brought to me from a neighbor. UNSEALED. The Safeway gift card fell out of it into her house, so she had to visit me twice, once with the envelope, and then a follow up with the Safew gift card that I have no idea whether is a $50 or $100. Postman may get lucky this year. This is atypical for Amazon, but happened with all three gift cards recently ordered.

Worked for me. I used one TY point and maxed out the 50% discount for $15 savings on a pair of shoes. The hardest part for me is finding something I want that is shipped AND sold by Amazon.com rather than a third party.

Getting below error when I try to enroll for shop with points for my Citi Thank you rewards card. Deleted and re-added through payments page but no use. I had used same card multiple times and got discounts earlier. Any one knows how to resolve this ?

“Sorry, there was a problem registering your Citi credit card. Customers with cards issued in the US – please call the ThankYou Service Center at 1-800-THANKYOU (842-6596). Customers with cards issued outside the US – please click here for contact information. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Chuck Looks like the link for “Link your Citi ThankYou account to your Amazon account” is dead. I think this is the link you want instead: https://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=18055960011

Martin Could you share of what steps you do to be able to use the AMZN gift card balance in this transaction? I used to be able to but this time it kept saying can’t use gift card balance?? THANKS.
