Amazon: Watch 8 Hours Of Prime Video & Get $5 Prime Video Credit & $5 Cheezit’s Credit

Update 9/1/20: New movies for September. Selection is pretty bad but playing them on mute in the background should work. Now need to watch 8 hours instead of 5. Cheezits credits are also stackable.

The Offer

Direct link to offer (our affiliate link)

  • Amazon is offering a $5 prime video credit and $5 cheez-it credit when they watch 8 hours of select content on prime video after registering. This can be done every month

The Fine Print

  • The program starts on the first day of the month at 12:00AM PT and ends on the last day of the month at 11:59PM PT. You can participate any time of the month to be eligible. The credits expire on 1/31/2021 8:00:00 AM UTC
  • The $5 Amazon credit can be used to purchase select Cheez-It Snap’d and Cheez-It products. Full list of eligible products will be available on the redemption page once you complete the challenge and receive the confirmation email.
  • You can also save and stack the $5 credit towards larger purchases of products identified on the redemption page, but remember that credits expire on 1/31/2021 8:00AM UTC. If you receive a $5 Prime Video credit, that can be used towards any rental or purchase on Prime Video.

Our Verdict

It’s only selected content that counts, but the content this month looks good. I’m guessing you can easily just stream it in the background if you there isn’t anything you like as well.

I recently bought a Prime Video through my TV app, and it didn’t touch my Prime Video credit shown online (and instead billed me), and I had to have a very long chat with them and they finally agreed to remove the Prime Video credit (which I’d received from this promo) and give me a gift card credit for the same amount, since they couldn’t figure out why my Prime Video credit wasn’t working or how to make it work.

And while I watched what was needed each month for the first few months of this promo, and got one email in August, I didn’t get the rest of the emails until in a quick burst in mid-November. (Ie, not within days of when I finished watching each set of monthly videos, but MONTHS later.)

So it seems that Amazon was not at all up to the technical task of making this promo work.

I agree. This whole thing has been a nightmare. I had $15 in credit which I naver could get to apply against digital purchases. I finally called them and after being on the phone with a rep for about 30 minutes, at my request she finally agreed to give me a $15 general credit to use on anything sold & shipped my Amazon. I never would have even bothered with this promo if I had realized that it was going to be so difficut.

Has anyone been able to use the $5 digital credit for anything? I am not able to use for music, video, or software. Spent 30 minutes on chat and phone trying to use credit (I have $15) and was told I would receive a callback after investigation. No callback.

Did it again for the month of November. Email said I got $5 cheez-it credits. It does show an extra $5 credit for Prime Video for me @ https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000391091#gc.

This month (November) it’s even worse, and conflicting info. At the top of the screen, it still shows: “Watch 8 hours”, but when you scroll down, it says “watch 15 hours”! And this month it’s only 5 TV shows, instead of movies.

I guess they uploaded a messed-up version early. It’s now 15 “movies and shows”, so I guess that was what 15 was supposed to be, not the number of hours. And now it’s a mix of movies and TV shows.
And now it’s been fixed, and it consistently says 8 hours.

Looks like none of the movies for this month are free through Prime.

Why do you think that??? It’s not true! I already “watched” two of them (The Lighthouse and Close Encounters) and they were both free with Prime.

And every other movie I click on the “Learn More” button on the next page has a yellow button saying “watch with Prime”, to the left of the buttons with prices.

Hm, I’ve been doing this for the past 2 months and have gotten the $5 Cheeze-It credits, but nothing shows up for Prime Video for me. Do they expire really quickly?

Perhaps. I try to do it as soon as the month begins. I just leave the movie in the background.

anyone else having trouble getting the cheez-it credit to stack? if i put 2 eligible products in my cart, then $10 is taken off my total, but if I put 1 item (worth over $10), only $5 is taken off.

If you go to the linked Cheez site above, and scroll way down, you’ll see FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS, and toward the end of this list is:

What can I use the credit on?

and within that it says:

Every $5 Amazon credit can be only applied to one single product.

Good lord this is ridiculous! And I tried to redeem the credit for mp3 since it shows up that way and couldn’t. It’s tried directly to video! Even called in and agent said it should have worked. I have a show I’m saving up for (Magicians) so I will do it one more month but this is f**king ridiculous. Too good to be true.

You don’t receive the video credit until you “redeem” the Cheez credit.

I didn’t receive the video credit for August, I chatted and they eventually gave me a general credit (not a video credit) of the same $5, and then TODAY I went to my August email, clicked on Redeem, it said I had redeemed for $5 toward Cheez (redeeming does not purchase), and then I went to:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000391091#gc

and my video credit had jumped up by $5.

This was 7 weeks after I got the email!

(I thought of this after seeing Matt’s reply below about redeeming.)

Hm. Mine (MP3, Video, Software) have been incrementing by 5 without “redeeming.” At least I don’t remember redeeming, whatever that means. I hope I can actually spend this money! One of these days someone should design a promotion so convoluted that no one gets the prize!!!

So I got my (apparently $10) credit. Went to purchase the show and it didn’t use any of the credit. What gives? This is really ridiculous. Of course, I could call again, but would prefer not to. Can someone please list one item this credit actually works on???

Edit: I just realized what happened. I was late watching TV this month (was expecting DoC reminder so did not put on calendar). I also did the buy 40, get 10 credit prime day deal. Both that email and Cheezit email arrived on the same day. So I assumed I had qualified for both 5 credits but it looks like I only got one. My balance incremented by 10 due to the 40/10 promo, not cheezit. Regardless, those funds should have been used for my video purchase!

So I watched the show and then called in for a refund. At this point, my magical MP3, Video, Software balance shows $20. I presume $10 from Cheezit video and $10 from the 40/10 promo. The guy kept saying the freaking Cheezit promo is only valid on Cheezit products. I said it there were 2 buckets and read him the terms. He said the balance I was viewing was $10 from Cheezit products and $10 from the 40/10 promo. I said if that’s true, why on earth is it showing a total of $20 under video? Anyways, he didn’t want to refund the videos I had already watched but got his supervisor’s approval.

On FT today I saw someone ask why United creates their own customer service problems. The same can be said for Cheezit/Amazon! I’ve certainly used more than $20 in staff time addressing this bungled promotion.

I received the October credit credit yesterday, and was able to stack it. Order for Mega Variety Pack, Snacks, Variety Pack, 28.1oz Box (28 Count), 10.40 less 2 listed $5 “Cheez-it credits” So net .40.

I also got the $5 amazon video credit at the same time or after my order, having done the watching in the past week.

They seem to have less and less for sale so I decided not to push my luck for the ~$15 items.

I’m not sure if I’m going to eat these or do a self serve halloween honor box with them.

I added the same item but it only took off 5 bucks per the terms. Are you sure you didn’t have an extra credit somewhere? I’m certainly not giving these bozos any of my money after this dumpster fire…

I am unable to get $10 off 😭 even though I had added $20 so far as cheez it credits (_10 from my account and $10 from my roommates) in last two months. I just see $5 off if I add mega variety pack $10 something. But if I add something else to cart then I see $3.40 off as cheez it credits. Weird

While the email doesn’t mention video credit, the video credit is still added to account. You can check it at https://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000391091#gc by clicking “Check your balance”

Update: When I actually ordered, it just used my No Rush credits and did not use the Prime Video credit from the above link

Thank you I checked it I see it in my balance I’m trying to buy a movie and it doesn’t give me the option to use it
