[Expired] American Airlines: 25% Transfer Bonus When Transferring Hotel Points

Deal has ended, view more American Airlines deals by clicking here.

Update: Marriott is not participating, making it useless.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • American Airlines is offering a 25% transfer bonus when you transfer hotel points to American Airlines AAdvantage Miles. You do need to register to receive these bonus miles, just transfer as normal. Below are the hotel programs you can transfer from and their standard rates (remember to add the 25% bonus to this)
    • Hyatt: 5,000 points = 2,000 miles
    • IHG: 10,000 points = 2,000 miles
    • Marriott: 30,000 points = 10,000 miles (For every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points converted within the same transaction

The Fine Print

  • Valid through October 31, 2020

Our Verdict

All of the transfer rates are terrible, apart from transfer from Marriott. Normally 60,000 Marriott points = 25,000 American Airline miles. With the additional 25% transfer bonus this becomes 31,250 American Airline miles.  How useful this is will depend on how you value AA miles and how you value Marriott points.

 William Charles – unless I’m reading the page wrong, it looks like only Hyatt an IHG are participating.

(update – Marriot is not participating)
Marriott is 3:1 + 5k for every 60k, or 60k:25k. If you need a few AA miles, there’s a 40% bonus for transfers from Amex MR to Marriott. All in you should be able to get roughly 4:3 for MR to AA transfers, which is about the best ratio I’ve seen.

I was thinking the same thing! Great way to build up AA miles for people who are american airlines loyal.

Even I can see the 25% offer when I log into my AAdvantage account, but it has been revised to exclude Marriott now. Last year, though, this offer was on Marriott, IHG, Best Western, and Choice hotels.

Marriott: 30,000 = 10,000 AA points. Current bonus is 5,000 bonus AA points for every 60,000 Marriott transferred, an additional 5,000 AA points will be awarded.
Example: 60k= 25k
90k= 30k
120k=50k

Must not be the same for everyone…when I log in, it does not offer Marriott as one of the participating partners

“ Marriott: 30,000 points = 1,000 miles (For every 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points converted within the same transaction”
I don’t think this is right unless I misunderstand what you’re saying. 1,000 miles seem too low.

It should be 10,000 miles, not 1,000.
