American Airlines & Hyatt Partnership Now Live [Status Matches Now Available]

Update 5/21/19: Previously status matches were targeted, looks like everybody is now eligible.

Update 5/13/19: This partnership is now live and you can link accounts here.

Original Post: American Airlines & Hyatt have announced a new partnership that will go live sometime later in 2019. Members of both programs will be able to earn additional points through this partnership.

  • AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey will earn one American Airline mile for every eligible dollar spent at qualifying Hyatt properties (in addition to the Hyatt points you’d normally earn). ConciergeKey members will also receive World of Hyatt Globalist status
  • World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members will earn one world of Hyatt point for every dollar spent on qualifying American Airline flights (in addition to the American Airline miles you’d normally earn).

There will also be a number of status challenges available as well. Basically a win/win as these extra points are in addition to what you’d normally earn. When the program goes live and it’s possible to register we will of course do another post.

How long does it take AA fights to post in your Hyatt account?

I was offered AA Platinum. I don’t fly AA but accepted Platinum then status matched to Southwest A-List (given 90 day A-List status with challenge to extend for 12 months with six one-way flights).

So does this mean that as an Explorist I can keep Gold till 2021 or do I need a bunch of AA spend and AA flights to retain Gold till 2021?

if you are getting an error when you try to link your accounts, try a different browser. i couldn’t get it to work in chrome but worked fine in safari.

Would be interesting to know if flying on AA but crediting miles to AS (codeshare) will still allow you to get Hyatt points.
Based on this alone it would seem to be the case, but didn’t see specifics in T&C: “You’ll now receive World of Hyatt Bonus Points when you fly American Airlines:
Earn one World of Hyatt Bonus Point for every eligible $1 USD you spend on qualifying American Airlines flights”

Logged in to my AA account and found this offer showing:

Take your World of Hyatt Explorist status to the next level and enjoy free AAdvantage® Gold status for 3 months after you register.

Keep your AAdvantage® Gold status through January 31, 2021 by earning the required Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and either the required Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs) or Elite Qualifying Segments (EQSs) between the date you register and the date 3 months after you register:

Do you think that this only counts on American Airlines planes only or will it also count on codeshare flights that have your Advantage Flier # attached?

Gold only lasts for 3 months though right? I think you can fast track to Gold till 2021 after flights and AA spend though.
