American Airlines & Hyatt Partnership Now Live [Status Matches Now Available]

Update 5/21/19: Previously status matches were targeted, looks like everybody is now eligible.

Update 5/13/19: This partnership is now live and you can link accounts here.

Original Post: American Airlines & Hyatt have announced a new partnership that will go live sometime later in 2019. Members of both programs will be able to earn additional points through this partnership.

  • AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey will earn one American Airline mile for every eligible dollar spent at qualifying Hyatt properties (in addition to the Hyatt points you’d normally earn). ConciergeKey members will also receive World of Hyatt Globalist status
  • World of Hyatt Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist members will earn one world of Hyatt point for every dollar spent on qualifying American Airline flights (in addition to the American Airline miles you’d normally earn).

There will also be a number of status challenges available as well. Basically a win/win as these extra points are in addition to what you’d normally earn. When the program goes live and it’s possible to register we will of course do another post.

Huh??? Marriott already partners with United. https://fly-united.marriott.com/en_US/

Spirit is more likely to partner with Red Roof Inn. 🙂

It was a joke. Implying that Marriott had become so bad that they are on par with Spirit. 🙂

Hmm curious if this would include anything for earning miles via CC.

Considering that the terms state “purchases at Hyatt” and “purchases on AA flights” the answer is quite obvious. No. Unless you are using your AA or Hyatt card on purchases with them.

Of course I just remembered that everything goes exactly as it said in the press release /s.

That’s a great partnership for earning points and miles.

Wont apply to me though as I haven’t booked a revenue stay at Hyatt since 2016. It’s just been cheaper to use points.

Possibly a dumb question, but since flight bookings using UR and MR portals are considered revenue fares, you think we could get Hyatt points for those?

“Opportunities to Fast track to higher American Airlines AAdvantage® Elite Status”
how sure how it will work

after linking their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage® accounts, certain World of Hyatt members with World of Hyatt Explorist elite status or higher may, from time to time, be selected for the opportunity to participate in offers to earn AAdvantage® elite status by traveling on eligible American Airlines flights during the designated offer period.

Check your AAdvantage® account page to see if you have been selected for the opportunity to participate in an AAdvantage® elite status offer, and, if so, for further details on AAdvantage® elite status offer opportunities. Additionally, American Airlines or World of Hyatt will inform you in the event you are selected for the opportunity to participate in an AAdvantage® elite status offer.

Would be great if they’d allow transfer ability between hyatt and AA. Even if it’s from AA to hyatt.

If AA to Hyatt was possible, a lot of people would be permanently moving to Park Hyatt Maldives.

No problem, here’s the corporate valuation rates:
25,000 AA: 1,000 Hyatt or 1,000 Hyatt: 500 AA.

No — those are milestone awards. It’s tied to the number of nights you stay.

Gold only lasts for 3 months though right? I think you can fast track to Gold till 2021 after flights and AA spend though.

globalist here, in the same email announcing this partnership, i got this offer:

“Because you are a Globalist member, you now have the opportunity to enjoy AAdvantage® Platinum status while working to achieve up to Executive Platinum status through January 31, 2021.

Once you’ve linked your accounts, please allow 1-2 days to view this offer in your AAdvantage® account. Be sure to register by September 30, 2019.”

pretty sweet deal

Do you think that this only counts on American Airlines planes only or will it also count on codeshare flights that have your Advantage Flier # attached?

Logged in to my AA account and found this offer showing:

Take your World of Hyatt Explorist status to the next level and enjoy free AAdvantage® Gold status for 3 months after you register.

Keep your AAdvantage® Gold status through January 31, 2021 by earning the required Elite Qualifying Dollars (EQDs) and either the required Elite Qualifying Miles (EQMs) or Elite Qualifying Segments (EQSs) between the date you register and the date 3 months after you register:
