The Offer

American Express cardholders can find their referral link in their Amex login:

  • Blue Cash Preferred cardholders can get $100 for referring a friend to the Blue Cash Preferred card. Max $550 per year. (See below for a better idea.)
  • Apply for the Blue Cash Preferred via a referral link and the new member gets $300 after $1,000 in spend.

Offer ends June 26, 2019.

Card Details

  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets (up to $6,000 in spend annually, then 1%)
    • 6% cash back on select U.S. streaming subscriptions
    • 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations
    • 3% cash back on transit (e.g taxis/rideshare, parking, tolls, trains, buses and more)
    • 1% back on all other purchases
  • You can only get the sign up bonus on American Express cards once

Our Verdict

The standard offer on BCP just increased to $250, this referral offer is even sweeter. We have seen as high as $350 incognito or even $450 with some hoops to jump through, but factoring in the bonus for the referrer I’d say this is the best offer we’ve ever seen.

The $100 for referrer showing on the BCP card, I believe that’s an increase as well from $75. BCP also just revamped their benefits today as well.

This referral is working for those with a Blue Cash Preferred card or with any other American Express card; all are able to refer friends to the Blue Cash Preferred with a $300 bonus. The referrer gets a different bonus on each card: BCP cardholders get $100 for referring, and some points cards get even 15,000 or 20,000 points for referring. You’ll probably want to refer from one of those cards instead since that’s worth more than $100.

Since American Express released universal referrals (even self referral), I assume just about everyone has an Amex card or has a friend with one, so I’m thinking we won’t do a referral thread for now. Do not leave referrals in the comments.

Update: The $300 offer is showing incognito as well. Try this link incognito.

Is it possible to get multiple BCP cards? Already have one for me and one for the wife, but we burn through our 6k pretty quick each year buying gc for business purchases. Id love to get a second one, if possible. Anyone directly apply and get approved for #2, or anyone have first hand experience upgrading a different card to a second one?

My wife has the BCE (which is collecting dust). I’ll have to see if I can trigger these from her account and get some easy points and/or cash back.

Note it was possible to get $350 / $2000 incognito offers before, that’s probably dead.

they should just rename it to publix/winndixie cash card since thats the only thing its good for, theres no way to recoup the annual fee unless you do your grocery shopping exclusively at those two stores and who does that? between farmers markets, specialty stores, and walmart/sams for cheap consumables youll save way more then 6% and get same or better food while you are at it. ill never forgive amex for pushing gimped cards on people while only giving bonus at the one worst store for grocery shopping.
and its not just grocery, all their categories are gutted because they have full control over how merchants are coded and if they cant gut it that way theyll force you to use uber or grubhub or some other nonsense.
and if you already havent wasted enough of your time figuring out merchants and jumping through hoops dont worry, youll be able to kill plenty more time each day before every purchase checking out for amex offers, and if you find one get ready to read more fineprint and when you are finished reading make sure you have time left to create new accounts at the merchants site cause it only works online. what if i dont have a smart phone? i didnt read anywhere in their mailer propaganda that now days a smart phone is required to have a credit card.
premium creditcard issuer my ass, the only thing premium is their ego

  hi

Just replying to this incoherent ramble to say I use it at Kroger and Safeway and Giant and Food Lion. It’s a good card for groceries, and for buying gift cards at grocery stores.

I’ve been able to get $350 + referral via incognito in the past. This should be mentioned in this post since the bonus is once per lifetime.

Nice! I was just looking for a new card for Player 2. That’s a good return on a low spend.

thank you for that post the limited 55,000 points you could receive in referrals each year is that only to the card you have (amex plat to amex plat) and every other card lie amex plat to bcp can get its own 55,000 point limited referral fee? or is it limited to 55k points a year total no matter which cards you refer you only get 55k? i hope i explained my question clearly
