Update 10/1/20: Sign up extended through October 31, 2020.

The Offer

Direct Link to offer | FAQ

  • American Express consumer cardholders get a free year subscription to the Calm sleep, meditation, and relaxation app. ($69.99 value)

The Fine Print

  • Offer available to U.S. American Express Consumer and Corporate Card Members who do not have an active Calm Premium membership and who sign up by September 30, 2020 through this website.

Our Verdict

This is part of the various enhancements which American Express added to their cards recently (we mentioned it briefly in our original post), and it’s now live.  I also thought it worth highlighting since it got lost in the shuffle by most people.

Not sure how many people will find the app useful, but there is a $70 annual subscription fee, so it’s a nice savings for someone who finds the app useful. Be sure to cancel the auto-renew to avoid paying in a year from now (I assume you can cancel the auto-renew immediately and you’ll still get your full year of free membership).

I signed up for the free year through American Express and loved the service, especially the Sleep stories so I will gladly continue with the paid subscription. It’s half price for the second year, still a great deal.

Thanks for the reminder, Chuck! Just cancelled. I didn’t sign up until December so confirm they let you keep it active until your renewal date. Have been using it but not frequently enough to pay full price. Thanks again!

Wow, you guys even do this. I am shocked somebody hasn’t offered you a pile of money to sell out your website. I don’t think veterans around here would blame you for it. This website is incredible. I can’t believe how much value I’ve pulled from your site over the years. This post is truly going the extra mile. Thanks Chuck and William for all you’ve done.

Are you suggesting that this site turn into TPG? Because veterans here would definitely mind.

Calm down man. He was simply expressing gratitude for a reminder almost a year later. That is very impressive in my book as well.

OUCH, say Doc, might want to do a repost of this to remind any folks who signed up for it a year ago to be sure the auto-renew was cancelled. We thought we did, but they auto-socked us with the renewal fee — and now we’re trying to get that cancelled/reversed.
