American Express Considering Offering Checking Account

American Express has sent out a survey stating that they are considering offering a checking account and asking some follow up questions regarding that. American Express already offers a deposit account in the form of the high yield savings account, it’s no surprise they are looking to expand and also offer a traditional checking account. Card issuers are looking to cross sell where ever possible and Chase has made a point of highlighting the benefits to investors of cross selling when discussing the high acquisition costs of Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders for example.
