American Express Delta Gold – 50,000 Miles + $400 Statement Credit

Update 2/3/23: This is showing up again via dummy booking.

The Offer

No direct link, shows up when doing a dummy booking

  • American Express is offering a sign up bonus of 50,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first three months. You also get a $400 statement credit after your first Delta purchase within three months of account opening

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $99 waived first year
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 2x miles per $1 spent on restaurants (including takeout and delivery), groceries and Delta purchases
    • 1x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • $100 Delta Flight Credit when you spend $10,000 in purchases on your Card in a calendar year
  • First Checked Bag Free
  • 20% Back on In-flight Purchases
  • Receive Main Cabin 1 Priority Boarding on Delta flights

Our Verdict

Has been as high as 90k miles or 70k + $200. This is a better deal if you value Delta miles at 1¢ or less.

I opened this card a year and a few days ago.
In order to avoid clawback of the bonus, can I cancel the card the day after the first annual fee posts, or do I have to wait until the end of the cycle in which the fee posts?

This is showing up as 50k+$300 for me on a dummy booking (or 70k directly from amex). Is there a way to trigger 50k+$400 or has the offer changed for everyone?

I applied for the AE Gold Delta Card on November 27, 2022. The offer included $400 statement credit after spending $2000 in the first 3 months. I met the criteria and never saw the credit posted. I initiated several investigations, all of which say that offer never existed. I need to find the media ad for that date. Can someone help me?

You don’t get the credit from the #2K spend. The $400 is added when you make your first Delta charge.

Just applied and got approved via dummy booking. Got number too. Questions does any delta purchase trigger 400 or it has to be 400+? Can it be used as part of the 2K spend or it is separate?

Can be anything. I paid $5.60 in taxes on an award booking, using the temp card number, and that triggered it for me.

Any specifics about what triggered the 50K + 400 offer?
VPN location? Flight source and destination? Seat type? Were you logged into to Delta? Were you logged into Amex?

Thanks in advance

Cancelled my last Gold card in 2017. Just received in mailer for 70k. The dummy booking also shows $400+50k. Just curious if the dummy booking app will not be honored since it’s not targeted?

Is this 15% off a time limited feature or a permanent featured benefit on these delta cards? And is it for just economy award redemptions or business/first class award redemptions too?

Weird, at home with VPN and Incognito I can only get $300 offer to show up. At work, no VPN and no incognito, I see the $400 offer almost every time. (Not logged in on either computer.)

Is there a way to get the Biz version to popup instead of the personal?

You should mark in you Delta account that you are a business owner.
