American Express Delta Increased Signup Bonuses on Personal & Business Cards (Reserve, Platinum, Gold Versions)

Update 7/1/19: Reposting as deals are supposed to end on July 2nd, 2019.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • American Express has increased the signup bonus on both personal and business versions of the Reserve, Platinum, and Gold cards as predicted. A lot of the cards are offering better bonuses when using a referral. To generate a referral use the following link. You can leave and use referrals in this linked post (do not share them in the comments below).
  • Personal offers:
    • Delta Gold: 60,000 miles + $50 statement credit with the annual fee waived (there has been much better offers previously)
    • Platinum Delta: 75,000 miles + 5,000 MQM after $3,000 in spend within three months + $100 statement credit after first purchase
    • Delta Reserve: 75,000 miles + 5,000 MQM after spending $6,000 + $100 statement credit after first purchase (available via referral only. Public link doesn’t have the statement credit)
  • Business offers:
    • Delta Gold: 70,000 miles + $50 statement credit with the annual fee waived (there has been much better offers previously)
    • Platinum Delta: 80,000 miles + 5,000 MQM after $6,000 in spend within three months + $100 statement credit after first purchase
    • Delta Reserve: 80,000 miles + 10,000 MQM after spending $6,000 (available via referral only. Public link is only 5,000 MQM instead of 10,000)

The Fine Print

  • These offers are valid through July 2, 2019

Our Verdict

All of the offers are quite strong, although we’ve seen much better offers on the Gold card before so I wouldn’t consider getting these now and those come around frequently. Previously we’ve seen a bonus of 70,000 miles + 10,000 MQM on the Reserve card and 70,000 miles + $100 on the Platinum card. So it looks like the above offers are better than those (at least when using a referral link). We have seen an offer of 80,000 miles + 5k MQM + $100 statement credit on the Delta Business Platinum recently.

Is there a max amount of Amex Business cards you can have? I know the max total card is 5 but wondering if there’s a business specific limit.

Max of 5 credit cards – not including charge cards. Some DP’s show more than 5 credit cards but it’s highly YMMV.

k thanks. i tried to apply for the Delta Biz Plat but got the popup saying i wasn’t eligible for the welcome bonus.

i currently have 2 personal (blue delta and blue cash) and 2 business (bonvoy and hilton). recently closed the bonvoy personal.

Are you putting spend on each of them or “sock drawering” them? Amex doesn’t like sock drawering (or closing cards too soon), and “sock drawering” (in addition to card closing) is a common reason for the popup. If Amex can “smell” that you got the cards only for the signup bonus, they’re more likely to deny you the signup bonus on new cards.

DP
DP

Multiple Amex reps have stated there is no hard limit of 5 non-charge cards. That might be an outdated policy that no longer applies.

I think the Delta Reserve offers are the opposite for MQMs. The Reserve Business has only 5k MQM via referral whereas the personal one has 10K.

The Platinum Business card is 80,000 points for $6,000 in spending, not $3,000.

I concur, my link is showing $6k spend on that offer as well. To me it’s looking like what we’re generating different offers.

Everyone PLEASE double check the link you use is generating the offer you want.

There appears to be some differences, I didn’t realize until I posted mine and I’m sure others are in the same boat. For instance the link I generated for the personal plat is offering 70k points + 10k MQMs +$100 credit for $3k spend. My personal Reserve is showing 75k points + 10k MQMs + $100 credit for $5k spend. My Plat Biz is 80k points + 5k MQMs + $100 for $6k spend. The link I generated for my Reserve Biz is the same as the public.

Edit: I used the special link above to generate these links

I can’t get the higher offers to show (at least for delta biz) on any of my cards.
After I read your comment I went in and copied some links other than BGR, they’re all the same. Maybe I need to try a different machine… I pulled BB+, BGR, Delta plat personal, ED, Aspire… all the same.

Did you click on [use the following link] in this part up above: “To generate a referral use the following link” ? If you aren’t able to generate the higher offers using that link it might not be possible for you, that link is the only way I got them to show for me. I recall some speculation last time around that you also had to currently hold a Delta card for it to work, don’t know if that’s the case this time around but I do.

Aloha808

Yes you need to hold a delta card for the above link to work.

Curious what the “much better offer” on the biz gold has been?

I have the same question. Have their been higher bonuses with the annual fee waived? The mix of 70k, $50 statement credit, AND waived AF looks juicy to me but I don’t know the history.

i signed up for the Delta Gold card 2 yrs back and had received a personal offer due to our corporate tieup with Delta. 80K miles for 3K spend and $100 off. Dont think any of my colleagues also received this offer. So was once in a lifetime chance 🙂

wtf!
Your Card is not eligible to participate in this campaign. Please refer to the FAQs for a list of eligible products at this time.

When I try to refer, what comes up is a 35K Plat biz referral… tried clicking on link, didn’t work.

Aloha808

Same here, but at least the reserve biz is showing as 80K.

Anyone able to get these via referral? Wasn’t working for me…

What were the previous much better offers for the Delta Gold? Did a search on the site and could not find much better. Saw a 75k/50 with a 4k spend. Thanks!

hi you write about amex return protections a lot. and i had to take my son to NJ for a long awaited Doctors appointment, we went via uber and when we get there 5 minutes late we were told “sorry the doctor left for the day” is there any protection amex offers for those 2 ubers there and back? it was quite expensive. thank you for your time and sorry for posting this on an unrelated topic

Chuck

I can’t think of anything that would cover that 🙁 . There are some that have similar coverages for things like ticket purchases where you miss the event, but I don’t recall ever hearing something like missing a doctors visit.

thanks for the response much appreciated

Won’t help with your question but make sure to rip the doctor a new one on those online doctor rating websites (stating what actually happened to you). Very unprofessional for a doctor to not wait 5 minutes when they keep you waiting all day.

What is everyone using to as a referral that’s generating the enhanced offer? Tried with Plat and BGR, shows the lower gold business offer 30k

Aloha808

I’m guessing they’re referring from other delta cards. FWIW i don’t have any delta cards and my biz cards show the same bonus as what you said.

Could somebody please suggest how to use that Delta credit if I have no plans on buying a Delta ticket? Should I go for a gift card(s) in $50 denominations? Or there is another way?
Thanks in advance!!!

Per Dansdeals yes $50 GC /$100 will trigger the statement credit. BUT MUST BE DONE FROM THE desktop website below

delta.com/egift/eGiftPurchase.action

“Any Delta purchase will trigger the statement credit. There is no minimum Delta purchase required, even a $2 snack or drink on a Delta flight will trigger the full $50 or $100 credit!”

I was curious myself as signing up

I am only seeing 80K +100 after 6k (post says 3k) spend for the Business Platinum. Is this just me or was their just an error in the post?

Bob Roberts

Not just you. Seems to be an error in the post, likely copy/paste error from the personal. Chuck

Fixed, thanks

Got denied the bonus when applying for the Delta Gold/

“based on your history with credit card balance transfers, American Express welcome offers, introductory APR offers, or the number of Cards you have opened and closed, you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer”

I never had this card before. Any ideas what could have tipped this off?

Welcome to The Dreaded Amex Pop-Up https://www.doctorofcredit.com/is-it-possible-to-bypass-the-american-express-not-eligible-pop-up-box-maybe-but-probably-not/ Nobody knows for sure what does and doesn’t trigger this. Some swear you can put spend on your existing Amex cards and try again and the pop up goes away while others say that didn’t work for them and others say they eventually saw the pop up go away without putting any spend on it. Doesn’t matter if you’ve never had the card. Hurts man.
