[YMMV] American Express Hilton Cards: Get 13x Points per $1 at Amazon [Max $500 in Purchases]

The Offer

Enrollment Page

Hilton American Express cardholders got an email with the following offer:

  • Get 10x bonus points on your Amazon shopping for a total of 13x per dollar.
  • Max $500 in spend will get the bonus 10x (5,000 bonus points max).
  • Valid from the time you complete enrollment through January 29, 2019.

Offer is being sent out on all 3 personal Hilton card versions, but I believe not on the business version.

The Fine Print

  • Requires enrollment.
  • Eligible purchases include digital downloads, Amazon Prime subscriptions, and items sold by third party merchants through the Amazon Marketplace.
  • Eligible purchases do NOT include fees or interest charges, purchases or reloading of prepaid cards, purchases of gift cards, person-to-person payments, purchases of any cash equivalents, or purchases made at non-US versions of Amazon.com or websites affiliated with/linked to/from Amazon.com or retail locations owned by Amazon.
  • Additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points will be credited to your Hilton Honors account within 2-4 weeks after the end of the offer. Purchases may fall outside of the offer period (and therefore not be eligible for additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points) in some cases, such as a delay in merchants submitting transactions to us or if the purchase date differs from the date you made the transaction. (For example, if you buy goods online, the purchase date may be the date the goods are shipped.)
  • Additional Card Members on your account are not eligible to enroll in this offer, but you can earn additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points for purchases made at Amazon.com by any Additional Card Members on your account.

Our Verdict

Pretty nice deal for Amazon spend. This also times nicely with the ongoing Hilton spend offers of either 20,000 points for $2,000 in spend or 10,000 points for $1,000 in spend. Also times well with holiday shopping.

Our appreciation to those who shop through our Amazon link. And a big thank you to all the readers who shared this deal.

Is there a link to enroll? Don’t see email on my Fee Free Version

i’d imagine an amazon giftcard will still trigger (even though it says excluded)?

Just got this email. So glad I held out on that Amazon order yesterday.

Though nothing for the CFU with the 1500 using Chase Pay

This is targeted.

Correct, I tried to enroll for it on my personal Aspire card and was denied. Sucks

I was denied also. New cardholder.

So is this a better deal than using the Chase
amazon Prime Card at 5% cash back?

well, most people value hilton points at a half cent, so that makes this 6.5% back..in the form of hilton points as opposed to 5% cash back from the amazon card. so its marginally better if you can use the hilton points (cash always has some extra value for flexibility).

Now, those who got the “spend $1K get 10K points” type offers and might have trouble reaching those numbers without amazon, it effectively adds another 5% of value and thus a lot more worth doing.

Dont see how these value at half cent. Looking at room prices and then the amount of point for that room. It always seems to come out to a quarter of a cent. ex. room cost $204 in nevada, points for same room 80,000

well, one example doesn’t really prove anything. I recently got 5 cents per point renting a room that was near a concert…but that was a true conjunction of events.

The Points Guy values these at .6 each. creditcard at .5, valuepenguin at .5, etc. etc. Of course YMMV.

Hilton points do require research and effort. However, once you get the hang of it, you will surely exceed 0.5. My redemptions have been between 0.7-1.2.

Yeah, I guess I’m not the target demographic. I got excited about this deal, tried to enroll and tada! I’m enrolled. But then I ran the numbers, and I’m like, what am I going to do with these points?

If you really really want to stay in a Hilton, I guess that’s fine.

I just went to book a stay in Puerto Rico. I could have gotten a room at the Hilton for 50,000 points, otherwise $224. That’s 0.4¢ per point, which isn’t bad for Hilton points considering the numbers people are throwing around. But instead I booked an apartment via AirBnb for $49. With a kitchen. And free parking (the Hilton tacks on $14.50/day for parking). I think I’ll be happier there. To me, that makes the Hilton points worth, in a practical sense, a little less than 0.07¢ (yes, I mean $0.0007) per point. Meh.

Chris.

I got the 10x points enrolment. Didn’t receive it by email I think, I just clicked your link

Update: After I used your link I also received an email regarding this incentive so I think I was already targeted

I got this offer but its worth $32.5 if we value it at 0.005. Not worth it.

More points are always welcome, as points might devalue later

Whether paying for Prime annual fee qualifies?

Chuck, I would add targeted in the headline of this article. While I received the email and was able to register one of my Hilton Honors cards, the second a no annual fee card said the offer was only for targeted cardmembers using your link above. Then I tried to register my mother who also did not receive the email and one again received the same email. So this offer appears to be targeted.

William Charles

We’ve added YMMV as there is a link to check enrollment.

dang. i need to finish the $15K/yr for my Hilton Biz. I don’t need to spend another dime on my Aspire.

i think i’d rather get the 5x UR on my Chase INK+ (buying Amazon GC’s at Officemax)

Mikey
Mikey

Not sure why. But the response I just received suggests the offer is for TARGETED Hilton AMEX cards.
