American Express Platinum Card Now Gives Two Guests Free Access To Priority Pass Lounges

The American Express Platinum card has just announced a number of significant benefits (and an increase to the annual fee to $550). This card also comes with a Priority Pass membership, Priority Pass memberships from credit card issuers vary with some giving unlimited guest access and some giving no guest access.

Previously the American Express Platinum card allowed you to bring guests, but you were charged $27 per guest. On February 21st this benefit was improved and you’re now allowed to bring two guests with you free of charge. I’ve confirmed this benefit change, but I’m unsure why it wasn’t communicated to cardholders and why it wasn’t mentioned in the recent list of benefit additions.

The amex website says Platinum cards allow *one* free guest, not two. Is this a change?

https://www.americanexpress.com/icc/cards/benefits/travel/priority-pass.html

“At any visit to a Priority Pass lounge, you may bring in one guest at no charge. You will be charged $27/£15/€24 for any additional guests.”

Still shows the ‘Guests may enter with you for a fee of $27 per person. ‘ language on the sign up page (https://rewards.americanexpress.com/olet/splash?campaignId=plpp0401&offerType=platinumprioritypass) and it lets me check ‘agree to the Terms and Conditions above’.

Is this just outdated webpage or is this a wrong place to sign up?

I called in the other day and they told me this perk starts March 30th. Any way to get it in writing that it has begun before than / where do you see it on your account?

Oh man you’re on it today. Thanks for reply. I couldn’t find the wording for two guests within my PP profile / benefits guide.

Will we be mailed new Priority Pass cards or do we keep using the old ones until this upgrade?

They have sent a mailer right now talking about all the new benefits. It doesn’t mention anything about the complimentary access.

Does the PP upgrade benefits only apply for Amex Personal Plat (and their other flavors e.g., mercedes benz), or does it also apply for Amex Biz Plat?

All the enhancements mentioned recently seem to strictly only relates to Amex Personal Plat (and not even other flavors or biz card), so just wanna confirm

Prestige has upgraded to unlimited guests without notice. I think it’s been a while.

Do you mean unlimited but charge after the 2nd? Or unlimited free… It says “Your membership plan includes:
Unlimited inclusive member and accompanying guest visits” now, I think it’s the same as CSR but I don’t have the latter so I can’t confirm. And in your own article, it says 2 guests… https://www.doctorofcredit.com/premium-cards-compared-chase-sapphire-reserve-american-express-platinum-citi-prestige/

Is there anything a current platinum cardholder needs to do for the PP to allow for the 2 guests? Will we receive a new card or is it just updated and no action is needed?
