American Express To Build Centurion Lounge At Denver International Airport (DEN)

Update 04/12/18: This has now been officially announced. Some addition details:

  • Estimated to open in 2019

One of the primary benefits of the American Express Platinum & Centurion cards is access to the premium American Express Centurion lounges. They already had lounges in Dallas, Hong Kong, Houston, Las Vegas, New York (LGA), Philadelphia, Miami, Seattle & San Francisco. They have also already announced plans for another lounge at JFK terminal 4. It looks like Denver is set to get a Centurion lounge as well as the Denver City Council is in the process of approving a 10 year lease for the construction of said lounge.

Here’s what we know:

  • Lounge will be located in Concour C of Denver International Airport (DEN)
  • Lounge will be 14,650. This makes it larger than all current lounges, the JFK lounge will be larger at 15,000 square feet
  • Lease is for ten years at a cost of $20 million (capital investment of $14 million)

I find this very interesting that it’s in concourse C, Southwest operates most of the gates in that area, and generally they don’t have lounges of any kind near their gates (especially at major hubs eg. MDW, DAL, HOU, LAS). Though I’m definitely excited for it!

Considering the relationship between DAL and AMEX I’d venture a guess that that’s probably never going to happen

Oh Yes! About time DEN gets a lounge other than the often inaccessible AA admirals or United (cause I’m only elite in my own eyes). Over the next 5 years or so I can mend my relationship of abuse with AMEX in time for the grand opening.
