American Express used to offer Virtual Account Numbers to cardholders, but that program ended in 2004. For some time Corporate cardholders have been able to generate these through American Express Go. One DoC reader was recently contacted by American Express to let them know that this feature set was being expanded to more customers. It sounds like this will be available to business cardholders only and it’s unclear if all cardholders will have access or if it will be invite only.

Virtual account numbers are the only reason why I hang on to my Citi Thankyou card. Use virtual account numbers all the time for trial Sirius XM subscriptions.
Same under normal circumstances, but check your Amex Offers if you have Amex. I got an $8 back offer for several uses before Feb 2021 at SiriusXM.
I have to add not only did American Express offer virtual numbers in the past, but they were the very first one to offer them. Seemed like a bad move to discontinue them after spending the resources to deploy the technology.
