Our Verdict
Get 30 day free trial as well. You’ll probably still end up paying the sales tax, but essentially you can a free 6 months of this reading/audiobook subscription service if that’s something that interests you.
I procrastinated on this. Does anyone have data points on buying the 6 month gift? Thanks!
Anyone else here not getting their most recent credit? I got the Feb, but the Mar has not credited.
G March 26 was my first charge and I haven’t been credited yet even though for most Amex Offers I would have by now.
I was charged Mar 6 and still nothing. That was my first charge. Never taken this long ever for an Amex Offer. Paused my sub until credited, because I don’t want more charges hanging by them.
I also got the credit in Feb but my Mar has not been credited. I re-read the offer and I’m sure that it’s good for more than one time. Not sure what’s going on.
@G Chuck Hi there! I checked with Amex on this, same thing happened to me: March credit seems “lost”, in fact upon checking my “Savings” tab under offers they all show up except March: https://imgur.com/a/aeD9MNJ
Agent on amex chat confirmed both the March and the April Scribd charges are eligible, the charge made in 4/16 has been captured and credit has been issued – I will receive it within 3-5 days.
However the charge made in March has not been captured yet, which seems to be some issue they had last month. He said “I am submitting an escalation for the March pending credit, since it was eligible.” and for me to check back in 7-10 days if it does not show up on the Savings tab as “redeemed”.
I suggest checking those and see if also your charges are missing to request the “escalation”, I am sure they will do the same and eventually get those credits 🙂 Good luck!
Update 🙂 Now the 3/16 charge shows as “redeemed” https://imgur.com/8cMKRRm and I have received one credit
Apr 20 Credit SCRIBD INC SAN FRANCISCO -$9.99
(unsure if 4/20 credit corresponds to the 3/16 or the 4/16 Scribd payments)
Let me know if you also receive them, Good luck!
Last update lol I have now received all pending Scribd credits (Jan, Feb, Mar and April) Last one is “Apr 28 Credit SCRIBD INC SAN FRANCISCO -$9.99” which corresponds to the MARCH charge. I hope it works for everyone else too!
Same here, my March credit just posted on April 28.
This comes with a lot of other perks including Pandora Plus

If you are into that stuff, do yourself a favor and register (free, online) for a library card. You’ll be amazed what’s available for you and you did not know about. Really…
100%. My library system unfortunately has incredibly long hold times for most audiobooks, but they provide free access to great educational resources, including Lynda, Consumer Reports and Morningstar.
I was going to try the Scribd subscription but it is $8.99 per month. There doesn’t seem to be any other option and the Amex Offer requires $9.99 per transaction. So does anyone know how to get to $9.99?
frank It’s showing as $9.99 for me on the main page. Does it show as $8.99 when you actually try to sign up?
Shows 30 days trial followed by 9.99/month on the main page for me. https://www.scribd.com/
I am travelling out of the States right now and it shows $8.99 but when I switched to my US VPN service I get $9.99 🙂 Apparently non-US subscribers get a small break. Thanks for your reply, otherwise would not have thought of it. For once I am glad to pay a dollar more 🙂
Scribd is great. We were already subscribers, this is icing on the cake.
