Our Verdict
I found this on all of my cards. We’ve come a long way since the days of the $25-off-$25 offer; I suppose this is still something.

I added this to my card, but it has since disappeared. oh well, now I don’t have to worry about it. Thank you for saving my time Amex!
Missing on my card and my wife’s as well. Looks like they may have removed it early?
Huh. Mine and p2 are still added. Ended up not finding a use for them.
I’m in New York, and see grocery stores, drug stores, liquor, florists, etc. Try using the filters on the map, select “shop small” and “retail” if you want non-restaurant options!
Ain’t nobody got time for your dumbass map, Amex.
I never understood the small business criteria. The list of businesses excludes many retailers any reasonable person would consider to be a small business, but it also includes an international business like Daiso which has 91 locations in the US (and 5,500 + worldwide) and 99 Ranch supermarket which has 52 locations.
Take a look through the directory and what is included. You may be surprised.
sometimes the map is not right. there are a number of places that accept amex that is not listed were you still get credited.
The ones in my area include a stripper joint – sorry… creative pole-dancing establishment – and several liquor stores. Lol.
To be fair, there’s also a very upmarket grocery store, but 5 bucks won’t help much there.
do strippers take amex/cc? wonder what happens when you get claw back on this and you need to argue
I bought a Chewy gift card from eGifter.
Someone posted about eGifter a couple years back.
Fingers crossed I get the $5 statement credit.
Did it work?
No. email yet.
I will update on Friday. 11/24
I remember buying so many gift cards from eGifter years ago when they were considered a small business. Not sure they would work this year
sadly only shopping, no restaurants? some small supermarkets near me that seem to be included, but nowhere i actually shop at…
I sure do miss the old Amex Small Business saturday $25 off $25 and $10 off $10. My family and I would drive around town loading up on gas and gift cards.
You just explained the reason they stopped it.
They stopped it because we used the offer around town at small businesses? That was the whole reason for the offer in the first place, right?
No, they stopped it because too many people were using the offer just to load up on gift cards. Amex can often figure out what you actually purchased (it depends on the amount of info they get from that particular merchant), and they don’t like people purchasing gift cards that much.
Gift card is still money spent at the small business. How does it matter whether we spend money at the business now or buy a gift card there to spend in the future. In the end the small business is getting your business
Too many people would buy gift cards at a small business which they later use at non-small businesses.
The point of Small Business Saturday is to get you familiar with the small business and hopefully keep returning there on days when there aren’t any promotions, which people aren’t likely to do if they only buy gift cards there on one day a year when there’s is a promotion.
that is cute
Does fluz still work to trigger the credit?
It’s listed on that website FWIW
Since it’s only shopping, not dining, there are some truly random businesses and most seem to just be fake, closed, or otherwise at least on my map.
