Our Verdict
This offer comes up everyone once in a while; if you are on the fence for a personal Platinum, now is a good time to jump on this as we don’t know how long it will last. It also has a low $3,000 spend threshold.
You can get the $200 airline credit twice (once in 2016 and once in 2017) which mostly offsets the annual fee. I did the previous 100k offer and it was well worth it. Not sure if we’ve ever seen a public offer of more than 100k on the personal card.
There’s also the Mercedes-Benz personal Platinum card available with a lower 75k bonus, and you can find here lots of other targeted Amex offers. It’s probably worth staggering your Amex Platinum cards so that you can get the premium benefits from each one separately.

Anyone know the length time it takes to get the sign-up bonus? Is by statement period? I’m a little bit worried since I’ve met the requirements a long time ago and still haven’t gotten the 100k. I also had a large refund sent back to me, even though I still spent above the 3k threshold.
If I’m not mistaken, MR bonuses come within a few days of meeting spend. Might be worth double-checking your spend and possibly contacting Amex.
I see now on FM’s post today that Amex often takes until the statement close to reward signup bonus points.

Am I the only person who feel Amex Platinum Ameriprise which waves the $450 annual fee and provides the same card benefits and also a free additional card for the first year is actually better deal than the 100k offer with $3k min spending? I guess 100k points aren’t worth $450 to me currently, but others seem to disagree.
You can get $1,000 in gift cards with 100k points, and there are other easy redemptions for $1,000 like Uber, so most people would value that more than $450.
Applied yesterday and got approved today in an email.
And just to provide a data point, it’s my fifth amex card.
For these Amex charge cards(platinum,PRG), are not included in Amex four-card rule

Yep, I’ve mulled this one over since yesterday and I I was sure I’d lose the opportunity if I waited more than 24 hours. Oh well, it was just the wrong time to take on a new inquiry/account/spend requirement.
It’s never a good time! Who knows when this offer will come around again.

Was kicking myself because I got the MB Platinum yesterday but got approved for this last night. 180k points in one day, Not bad.
Right, but now you have Plat benefits for only one year. If you just got MB Plat, wait a year, cancel l, and get the regular Plat if it’s back up around 100k. Otherwise, you’ll have to cancel both last a year from now.
What should be a credit score to apply? Is EX683 enough?
OK, approved. Now I have Green, PRG and Platinum on one account. Can I close Green and PRG? I have 77k points, will it transfer to platinum?
Is the Global Entry/TSA Pre benefit transferable? Can my fiancé apply for it and pay with my approved Amex Platinum?
Yes. Just pay the global entry fee with your card and you will see the credit soon after. They don’t tie it to the name of the applicant.
