Our Verdict

Amtrak will often have 30% off sales that don’t require purchasing multiple tickets and recently had BOGO, so this deal is really only worth considering if you need to book tickets for four people.

Doesn’t apply to their base fare. They don’t have that written anywhere. After calling customer service (first two reps didn’t even know they were having a “sale”) a supervisor, whom I had to tell them how to find their sale on their website, said: “oh we never discount our lowest fare”. It also doesn’t work for their express trains (which is the one they have in pictured in their promos).

How long do these usually last? Waiting for a new credit card to arrive 😛

My read is this is a new “permanent” group discount rather than a one off sale. April 26 is the first travel date under the 3 day advance purchase clause from the April 23 roll out.
