Card Details

  • No annual fee
  • Card earns at the following rate:
    • 1% cash back on purchases
    • 2% at grocery stores*
    • 3% on gas*
  • 10% customer bonus when you redeem into a Bank of America checking account

Picking A Partner

You can choose which team to pick and that one will show up on your card. The main reason you might care is because the affinity partner receives payment for card sign up’s and spend. Other than that, they are all the exact same.

Our Verdict

This offer is back again; it was up not long ago, but it was pulled recently and people were asking about it. Luckily, a new link was found by Reddit member platgold.

The standard offer on this card is $100 after $500 in spend and it also has gone up to $175. It’s not the best cash credit card sign up bonus, but it’s one of the better options. Another good thing is that Bank of America combines multiple applications into a single hard inquiry, you might want to consider the 30,000 mile + $100 bonus on the Alaska Airlines card. It’s also possible to eventually downgrade this card to a better balance rewards card and earn up to $120 per year, but this has been getting harder and harder to do in recent times.

Also bear in mind that if you have a BofA checking account, the signup bonus is actually $220 since you get a 10% relationship bonus.

I just applied for 3 different versions of this card and was approved for all 3. However, they all have the same credit limit. Am I most likely only going to receive 1 card instead of 3? Is there any way to check without actually speaking to someone?

Gus
Gus

I received the exact same CL last fall when I applied for BBR, AS, and TR on the same day.

Do you have links for the 3 different versions of this card? if you don’t mind can you plz share.

Eric

I just meant 3 different teams through the same link.

Thanks much… do we need to apply them through 3 different tabs and submit at same time or need to use incognito/private tabs?

Eric
Eric

I used 3 different browsers but 3 tabs might work. I waited to be approved before submitting the next.

I’ve applied for 3 cards, each with a different MLB team, on the same day. Each had the exact same credit limit. I received all 3 cards, each with the bonus activated. Cheers!

Eric
Eric

That’s great to hear. How many MLB cards do you have total now?

John K

I have six, as does my wife after her last round of three applications. I found this interesting: she applied for three cards on one evening, and two business days later 2 of the accounts posted to her BoA online login. It wasn’t until 4 days later that the 3rd new card posted to her online account. Weird! Anybody have any ideas?

I did another round of applications. I applied for five as I am getting nervous that this opportunity must be coming to an end soon. I only waited two weeks between my last round of apps. All five were approved instantly. I now have 11 BoA MLB cards, all since Mar/Apr this year. As happened with my wife, all but one of the cards I applied for are already showing in my BoA account screen, but I know five were approved as I checked my application activity screen.

As a household, we’ve decimated our AAoAs, but we’ll have earned over $3,600 (before tax, all taxable obviously) for six hard pulls. Thanks to BoA’s ease of use for opening bank accounts, regular household spending, and some ebay discounted gift cards, we’ve had no difficulty thus far hitting the minimum spend of $500 a card.

I think they pulled the application page a few days ago.

If I were you I’d also be concerned that you’ll eventually be flagged by BoA and hopefully they aren’t one to rule with an iron fist and ban you.

No worries. I opened 5 different teams. All came with 1k credit line. Got $200 bonus from each of them plus 10% checking acct bonus.

Eric

Did you apply for all 5 the same day? If so, was it 2 inquiries?

Same day. One hard pull from EX.

Eric:

What is your CL for the three cards?

I am a little worried since the first and second card come in with a CL of $11000

Eric
Eric

I think mine was over $7K for each of them.

Bank of America has a page where you can check the status of your application. If you will only be getting one they will all show as same application number. If truly multiple cards will have a different number.
good luck

BOA hasn’t approved me for a while, despite 760+ score. Any advice?

I was denied as well with credit score around 750-760. It’s been years since I’ve been denied a card :-/.

Anyone know if this is worth the hard pull and shortening of my credit history for the $200?

I currently have a credit score in the 800+ range and an average credit age of around 12 years. Oldest card is 29 years old. Youngest card is 3 years old.

May be seeking to refinance a mortgage in the next year…(and looking for a second mortgage in the next 5 to 10 years).

Raul
Raul

@Kevin, if your youngest card is 3 years old then I wouldn’t waste my time with this offer and instead apply for Chase credit cards. Most chase credit cards will have a higher sign up bonus but will also have a higher minimum spend requirement. So really just depends on ur ability to hit the minimum spend.

Bill
Bill

I second the comment about Chase if you haven’t obtained any new credit cards in the last two years that they should be first.
Without sounding like a broken record, the Chase Sapphire Preferred is a very attractive card. Chase has many other cards. Some people have success applying for two or even three Chase cards on the same day. (e.g. Amazon, Marriott, AARP, IHG, United, etc.)

Pearl
Pearl

Thinking of applying for Marriott and SW plus card- would you suggest applying for them on the same day or a month apart. It would be my 2nd and 3rd co branded cards if approved. My first preference in terms of approval would be the Marriott because I don’t have a hotel card.

John
John

Hi Kevin. You haven’t told us how many accounts you have. Without that, there’s no way for us to compute what your new AAoA will be after you add a new card.

We know that your current AAoA = 12.

If the total number of accounts on your report is small (e.g. 2) then adding a new account will cause your AAoA to go from 12.0 to 8.0. If you have many accounts, however (e.g. 20) then your AAoA might not even go below 12 (e.g. 12.5 to 12.1).

It looks like you rarely apply for new cards and that regardless you will be applying for at most 1 or 2 in the runup to your mortgage. So I would just look for the biggest promotional bang you can. You can do better than $200 for a mildly uninspiring card. Raul is right that the key question for you is minimum spend.

Prashanth
Prashanth

my AAoA is 1 years and 8 months. If I get 3 cards, complete min spend, cash the bonus and close the accounts does it affect AAoA (after closing)?

Mark O
Mark O

Closed accounts stay on your report for 7 years and are still calculated in you AAoA even after closed until they fall off of your report 7 years later.

anthonyjh21
anthonyjh21

I think it’s up to 10 years. The 7 years is probably the minimum.

John
John

The only accounts that factor into your AAoA are the accounts that are on your report at the moment your report is pulled.

Thus, if an account has fallen off your report (for any reason) it is not included in the AAoA computation.

An account that was closed in good standing will typically stay on your report for 10 years. (Though it is possible for i to fall off earlier.)

The seven year figure is for negative or derogatory information. For example, an account that was closed by the credit card company as a “charge off” (highly negative mark) will only stay on your report for 7 years.

Mark O is correct that all accounts on your report, closed and open, are included in the AAoA computation.

For anyone reading this thread who has questions about how FICO scoring works, I encourage you to head over to the Forum at myFICO.com. Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks there.

I’m also getting an error when submitting.

Would this card be churnable?

I had this Rewards Credit Card about three years ago and eventually it was downgraded to a BBR card…

Do you think if I am eligible for the opening bonus this time?

William Charles

Yes, shouldn’t be an issue with BofA, if you’re approved you should get the bonus.

Tian

Just got approved for a Milwaukee Brewers credit card – CL: 11000

Would it be wise to apply for a different team now to take advantage of the pull combine?

I am a little worried that, based on the DPs above, I would be approved for a second one with the same credit line and the sudden increase in total credit line will make BOA frown…

William Charles

Up to you, inquiries should be combined if same day.

Applied and got instant approval online this morning

I have a cash rewards card already and wanted to transfer some credit from it to fidelity Amex before it switched to us bank. This is a hard pull. So I was thinking of combining hard pulls by applying for some bofa cards as well.

Do you know if the hard pulls from FIA caRd services and bofa are merged. Yes they are the same but they have different websites.

William Charles

No idea sorry.

I was able to successfully change my BOA Cash Rewards Card Visa to a Better Balance Rewards Card yesterday with the first CSR I spoke to.

It might be worth noting that I’ve had the card for several years as well as been a long time BOA account holder, so I don’t know if that helped at all.

William Charles

Awesome

Eric

Did you speak to a normal rep from the phone # on the back of your card? I’ve tried a few times recently and each time the person was adamant that it is simply not possible anymore. You just motivated me to keep on trying.

Please give some more details. The csr I talk to say the option doesn’t even show up and they are eager to get my new application.

I applied for Alaska personal, instantly approved. Then in incognito applied for MLB and went to pending. Transunion score 761, Alaska limit 12k.

Got instant approvals for 3 cards (different teams) today, each with $3K CL.

Anyone have a guess whether or not you’d receive a tax form if you successfully earn $200×3 for a total of $600, which just so happens to be the threshold for 1099-INT?
