US Bank should be added to the summary list of banks that gets posted when discussing these deals given that a few of the banks listed are ones that almost nobody has heard of or uses.

Walmart GCs are available which I haven’t seen previously. Though I haven’t looked in a while.

Do you mean that you’ve seen Walmart GCs at your local CVS?

Yep, just bought $150 worth across three cards. Odd that they sell competitors’ cards though I had seen Target previously.

It’s not really odd as I’ve seen Amazon GCs in Best Buy and in many other stores that are technically competitors of theirs.

The surprise to me is that you found WM GC in a non-WM store. I hadn’t heard of that being a thing before.

It turns out that I was already subscribed to that post but I completely forgot about it. I guess that my memory isn’t as good as I thought it was. 😉

The CVS offer is back now after briefly disappearing for a day or so.

I added a few days ago but now it disappeared on my “added” list. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Its still there in spirit. Chase offers disappear sometimes but remain added to the card and will eventually make an appearance. I cannot be sure but I believe they can also be redeemed when they have disappeared after you have added them. However this portion like I said I cannot confirm for sure, its just my recollection that it may have worked for me in the past.

the same thing happened to me. I had it on three of my cards… then it mysteriously disappeared. however I had a Chevron offer that likewise mysteriously disappeared after I added it to the targeted card offer.. however, even though it disappeared the offer credit came on three days later ..so now with my CBS offer I took a gamble on one of my cards hoping that the same thing happens and even though they hid the whole offer from me I’m still getting credit hopefully. I’ll see about CVS in a few days

I had 10% CVS offer on 2 of my Chase cards which disappeared after I tried to use one with the Rakuten offer. I want to say the expiration was 5/5 or some time early May. The offer has disappeared from active/added/used offers as if they were never there.

I tried to do the Rakuten offer yesterday but today I see the offer unadded and I don’t see any pending credits. Is there a delay for it to get added? Or did my offer just not get added for some reason?

I’ve generally gotten the notification of the sale right away. The trip I did yesterday didn’t track. I activated it in the app, but when I looked later, the app said I wasn’t logged in. I see another comment that there seem to be some issues just now.

I can’t get the cvs offer to stay added. They told me it’s a system glitch and said if it doesn’t work, I need to send receipt in for review as opposed to credit card transaction proof. Urgh

Macys GC also worked for me, thankfully my local store had clear signs of the promo for each participating GC brand. Rakuten tracked fine, the 15 Extrabux confirmation was printed on the receipt and could be already loaded on my CVS card. So worked fine for me. Thanks Gd.

FYI, the CB from Rakuten is not safe until it changes from “Pending” to “Confirmed”.

Rakuten is at 10% in-store. If you buy certain $50 gift cards this week, you get $15 extrabucks. Just make sure to add another item worth $1-$2 to the purchase, to make sure Rakuten tracks. Worked for me multiple times so far.

Thanks for the info. Any decent gift cards that give the extra bucks?

I picked up a $50 doordash card yesterday. The weekly ad says “Chili’s, On The Border, Macaroni Grill, Maggiano’s, Domino’s, DoorDash and other participating gift cards”.

Couldn’t figure out what the “other participating cards” are yet. I plan to go in again today to pickup another card using my second CVS account. Will probably ask an associate. But from my experience, they usually have no idea either.

Also, next week’s ad says… “CVS, Applebee’s, Panera Bread, Chili’s, Legal Sea Foods, Bath & Body Works and other participating gift cards.” But it’s $10 eb (instead of $15) for $50 purchase.

Thanks for spelling this out. I’m not a fan of DD and the rest of negative use for me. Plus no Chase offers for me this time around. Thanks again, saved me from a FOMO trip to CVS.

Glad it helped. I use DD for restaurant/convenience pickups stacked with my CSP benefits, so it works out pretty well for me.

Hi, @Gd! Thanks for the Rakuten and GC tip! Is it “required” to do the additional $1-$2 on top of $50 purchase so that Rakuten tracks? Does Rakuten in-store not like “whole” totals like $50? I’m planning on doing $50 of GCs but don’t want it “clawed back” if I don’t add an extra $1-$2. Just want to make sure my purchase works with Rakuten :). Thank you!

As long as you charge < $200 to your card, you have a good chance of the purchase tracking and eventually turning to “Confirmed”.

I learned of the additional item trick right here on DoC last year, and it’s been working for me just fine. I haven’t tried purchasing a GC without stacking on the additional item, since I don’t want to risk Rakuten not tracking it. I always find some snack for ~ 99c to add on.

I’ve had GCs track many times without additional items so I doubt very much that Rakuten sees the item details. I believe that they mainly (or only) go by the amount charged when deciding whether to invalidate a transaction.

Hi, Eric 🔗 and Gd , regarding CVS gc purchases, if a whole number total like $25 or $50 makes the transaction “suspicious” / potential gc purchase to Rakuten, can’t I / we just pay for it partially with cash and then the rest with the linked card? For example, I buy a $50 gift card, if I pay $0.03 in cash, then the Rakuten linked card would pay $49.07 and would send the total of $49.07 to Rakuten which would make it not trigger any gc warnings :). Do you think that would work?

Eric 🔗 (@guest_2058195)

I’ve had exact values track fine and pay out from Rakuten so I don’t think that’s really an issue. I think that Rakuten/CVS are more worried about transaction(s) that total > $200, based on the terms of the offer.

That being said, if you are concerned about it happening to you, sure, you can pay part of it with cash if the cashier allows it.

However, in your example, make sure that you charge $49.97 to your credit card instead of $49.07 as you wouldn’t want to be accused of stealing $.90, would you? 😉

Gabe (@guest_2058208)
May 9, 2025 08:18

LMAO YES I meant $49.97 in my post above XD! LOL! Didn’t meant to sound like a math fail there. Haha! Thanks, @Eric !

As for Rakuten concerns about gc purchases, just want to make sure that my purchase goes all the way through to Confirmed. Read about purchases initially tracking/Pending, and then getting clawed back (ugh).

As for paying with cash + card, I’ve successfully been able to do so at grocery stores and places like Target. Like I’ve paid before with change from my pocket + card.

But just wanted to check with the more experienced folks here (like you), that doing so won’t mess with Rakuten tracking/reporting, just in case Rakuten has a fine print that the entire transaction needs to be paid for with the linked card only and no other form of payment.

I can assure you that you have nothing to worry about regarding this: “Rakuten has a fine print that the entire transaction needs to be paid for with the linked card only and no other form of payment.” 😉
