[Expired] Bank of America Air France/KLM FlyingBlue Credit Card 70,000 Miles Signup Bonus + $100 + 100 XP Bonus

Update 4/19/23: Available again.

The Offer

Direct link to offer (this is the public link, see below for additional option with $100 statement credit)

  • Bank of America is offering a sign up bonus on the AirFrance/KLM FlyingBlue credit card of 70,000 miles after $2,000 in spend within the first 90 days from account opening.
  • You’ll also get a bonus of 40 XP after meeting the minimum spend. That’s on top of the standard 60 XP awarded upon approval. Total 100 XP.
  • Reports are that if you do a dummy booking, you’ll get shown an offer for an additional $100 statement credit signup bonus, on top of the 70,000 and 40 XP. Some got the offer to show when NOT logged into their account and doing a cash booking.

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $89
  • Card earns at the following rates:
    • 3x miles per $1 spent on AirFrance/KLM and Skyteam members
    • 1.5x miles per $1 spent on all other purchases
  • 60 XP (Experience Points) upon approval
  • 5,000 anniversary bonus miles when you spend at least $50 in your previous card member year
  • 20 XP (Experience Points) on card anniversary and an additional 40 XP if you spend $15,000 or more in your previous card member year
  • No foreign transaction fees

Our Verdict

Previous best bonus on this card was 50,000 miles + $150. This 70,000 mile offer is probably more attractive given the 20k additional miles + 40 XP additional bonus. And utilizing the dummy booking trick to get the $100 statement credit makes this offer the best ever.

If you want to apply for this card I’d recommend reading our post with all the things you should know about Bank of America credit cards first. We’ll add this to our List of Best Current Credit Card Signup Bonuses.

It ended in September last year, too. (Going by the comments here from last year.)

AirFrance/KLM is the Hyatt of airlines. Enjoy 55k one way business class flights while it lasts.

These earned 70,000 miles can be transferred/used for which airlines? Just AF/KLM or other airlines too ?

In general, you can’t transfer miles from one airline to another, but you can book partner airlines’ flights on the site where you have the miles.

Example: On Air France’s website, you can see available flights “operated by,” say, their partner Delta, or one of the other SkyTeam members (but which are listed with Air France flight numbers). You then use the Flying Blue miles to book the partner flight.

Similarly, if you have Delta Skymiles, you could book an Air France or KLM flight on the Delta website using your Skymiles.

You can find a list of all the Flying Blue partners on Air France’s or KLM’s websites.

Was declined according to status check, then a week later got a letter in the mail: call us, we need more info. Was then approved. Back from the dead!

What number did you call? The ones on the recon page on here don’t lead to a human.

Did a cash dummy booking without logging in for the 70k+100+100 offer, it shows up on the payment page.
Was approved with 30k CL, 800+ score, under 5/24.

 Chuck
I just got the 70,000-mi offer by email (without the $100 statement credit, that is). I haven’t tried the dummy booking trick yet.
I plan to apply next month, so I can time it to include two large, recurring purchases to meet minimum spend easily.
Already have an award ticket to Europe for end-of-summer.

Did the dummy booking and saw the extra $100 offer; was logged in at the time. Applied, but went pending for 8 days before a rep called me to verify contact info. Approved same day. Card will arrive in 7 to 10 days.

Card finally arrived May 30… after a 22-day wait:

May 8, application went pending,
May 16, call to verify my info,
May 23, notification email from BofA that the card had shipped,
May 30, delivery of card by USPS.

So, best to prepare for possible delays in getting your card, especially if you’re trying to time a planned large purchase, as I was…which, of course, I missed, but no big…

The 60XP posted to my Flying Blue account within 1 day of card approval which is cool.

Update:
The $100 statement credit posted 10 days after hitting the minimum spend of $2000.
The 70,000 bonus miles and 40 bonus XP posted at the following statement end.

Strange how they do this:

As soon as I qualified for Silver with those extra XP, my Flying Blue account subtracted all 100 XP and now shows:

“XP counter offset August 26, 2023 -100 XP
Qualification period ended / Silver reached August 26, 2023 ”

“Surplus XP available on the XP counter August 26, 2023 +0 XP
XP gained in previous qualification period ending 25/08/2023 and kept for the new qualification period starting 26/08/2023”

But my account is labeled “Silver” now. 🙂

I’ve never used or even looked at the FlyingBlue program, but just plugged in some dummy dates and am seeing good availability at my nearest hub (ATL)…one way economy flights next spring at between 21k-33k miles…for comparison, I just booked 4 tickets to Munich next spring on American hardware using Alaska miles at 22.5k a piece, so this seem like a pretty decent deal IMO.

Recently booked round trip from SEA to Spain for 40k +$200. Even better rates from east coast. They have great promo awards periodically. You just have to wait for them and hope. Regular redemptions are not great

I transferred from chase for even better rates 34k.
