Bank of America: More Rewards Day (Extra 2%/2x On 11/07/24)

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Bank of America is offering a one-day rewards holiday on  November 7, 2024 whereby all personal and business cards from Bank of America will earn an extra 2% cash back / 2x rewards points. Limit of $2,500 in spend per card

Our Verdict

This can be an interesting offer with the following cards:

  1. The Travel Rewards, Premium Rewards, and Unlimited Cash Rewards cards earn 1.5% on all purchases. On November 7th you’ll get an extra 2% for 3.5% total everywhere.
    • This is especially interesting for top-tier Preferred Rewards relationship clients who always get 2.62% on all purchases with these cards and will get 4.62% everywhere on November 7th.
  2. Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card always gets 3% on one category of your choice (or 5.25% for Preferred Rewards clients) and 2% on grocery/wholesale (3.5% for Preferred Rewards clients) on up to $2,500 in purchases. On November 7th it’ll be 2% on top of that. That’s a potential total of 7.25% on your chosen category for top-tier Preferred Rewards clients.
  3. Earn 3x miles per dollar everywhere on the Alaska Airlines card.
  4. Apply for a new Bank of America card now and you’ll hopefully have the card by November 7th when you can meet the minimum spend at increased earn rates.

Last year there was no cap, but this time there is a $2,500 cap in spend.

Is this promo targeted? I did not receive any mail/email on it this year.

Will this also work for paying Rent with Alaska card?

For estimated tax payments for the upcoming quarter is there any issue with paying early?

A lot of you have mentioned that purchases last year didn’t receive the 2% bonus automatically (or at all) because the Transaction Date ended up being after the deadline. It would be helpful if you post which online retailers did this so people can know not to use these this year.

For example, I know from experience that Costco.com has done this.

If Costco com posts the next day, can you show BofA a purchase receipt to show things we’re purchased on the correct day & get the additional 2%? I was going to purchase Costco GCs on that day …

You can definitely show them your receipt but there’s no guarantee that they will manually give you the credit. If it was me, I would only buy it with the intention of NOT getting the extra 2%.

My rent is processed is through RealPage. I made two payments last year on BoA that both had transaction dates a day after I made the payment. The same thing happened last month on some non-BoA cards.

I’m not sure if there is a difference when you choose “schedule payment” or if it changes depending if you have a credit balance. I suspect there may be.

If anyone has any other data points on RealPage that would be helpful!

Is BoA Staples gift card sensitive? Looks like it will line up with the no fee Mastercard week.

They screwed me last year by posting my transaction on the next day. Beware

Take screenshots and enable alerts for no-card-present transactions to push them on adding the credit. For those who inquired afterwards on the variance of posting the next day, most of us got the extra 2%.

I saw in a comment from last year that co-branded customized cash (like Susan Komen) would also qualify for more rewards day (https://www.doctorofcredit.com/bank-of-america-more-rewards-day-extra-2-2x-on-11-10-23/#comment-1727322). I want to ask will it have a separate $2500 cap (for more rewards day) from the normal customized cash card?

Yes, every card has its own cap.

“…up to a maximum of $50 in cash rewards, 5,000 points, or 5,000 Miles per unique Consumer credit card account or unique Small Business company.” So per card for personal accounts.

So does that mean I can only do for one business credit card because the other business cards are under the same busines name?

There were DPs last year that they didn’t enforce the one per business limit.

Apparently if you have both personal and business cards, they count separately, so 2x $2500 limit?

“…per unique Consumer credit card account…”

Some folks have more than one or two of those.

I have the Customized Cash Rewards with platinum status. My current 3% category is office supply stores, so I’d be getting 7.25% there. But since I value UR at 1.5 cents, that’s not as good as Ink Cash’s 5x UR. If I had a lot of travel spend that I could arrange to do on 11/7, it would be worth changing my 3% category. Come to think of it, that’s two days after Election Day, so a lot of people might be looking to leave the country depending on the outcome.

Regardless of your politics, the current administration will be in charge until January 19, so there is no pressing need to flee the country immediately.

I wonder what % of the people that threatened to leave the country 8 years ago if someone won actually ending up leaving. Would you go over/under 1%?
