Bank of America & PGA End Partnership

Bank of America and PGA have ended their partnership. Existing PGA TPC Custom Cash Rewards will be convert to the regular Bank of America Custom Cash Rewards card and all of the additional benefits will no longer be available as of April 27, 2023.

This was more of a white label partnership than a cobranded card, so it will be interesting to see if the PGA partners with another card issuer to put out a dedicated card.

BoA has ended a number of these kind of partnerships in the last couple of years. Is this part of a larger strategic move to get rid of these “affinity cards”? I’ve been planning to apply for an affinity card to add to my two existing Customized Cash Rewards cards, but am waiting so I can stay under 5/24. Should people like me rush to apply for these kinds of cards before they all go away?

this card has been unavailable since early last year, but yeah they’re getting rid of most affinity cards. just noticed a couple weeks ago my national wildlife federation card changed to a generic CCR in my account listing.

Be careful because apparently over 4 personal cards with BoA can get you shut down. Some people said they were shut down with 4 cards so I’ve been playing it safe with just 3.

Weren’t there conflicting data points on that? Did anyone with significant assets at BoA report getting shut down? BoA tends to let their Preferred Rewards members get away with things they won’t let others do; were there any reports of them shutting down, say, Platinum Honors customers?

p2 has 4 cards, p1 has 3…have/had platinum honors but, we let it lapse before requalifying every year

P1: 1 BBR, 4 CCR, 1 TR, 1 UCR, 1 PR
P2: 1 TR, 1 BBR, 3 CCR, 1 UCR
Most of the CCRs were of different co-brands when opened, but have been converted to regular CCRs.

I love those data points. Were any of those cards acquired recently?

P1’s TR and PR are less than 6 months old. P1’s latest CCR and P2’s UCR are just shy of one year.

Gm, and, Happy Thursday! 🙂
I’m currently not aware of having this issue with BOA., at least not as of yet. I have 2 Corp CC’s, one being a business advantage travel rewards, Also, a customized Cash rewards, a, signature Travel Rewards, and as unlimited cash reward card attached to my personal profile. So, we’ll just have to see what the near future holds…

Well, there goes my plan for a 4th CCR and an Unlimited Cash Rewards Card this year. Can you provide your sources, or has this been an unspoken rule I’ve missed?

I’ve got 4 total CCs, including two opened on the same day, so not sure about that. I have a savings account with a few hundred in it so nothing crazy asset wise. Plus I cost them $30/quarter with the BBR lmao

Seems like BofA is phasing out all of the affinity programs: MLB, WWF, PGA, college alumni associations, etc. How many are left?
