As the Discover-Capital One merger continues, we continue to see residual ways that the merger is affecting accounts. We posted yesterday that the generous Discover $2 small balance waiver is no longer around after account merger. And we noted that the Paze promo is valid on Discover cards which have merged. And we mentioned that credit line reallocation can take place across Discover and Capital One cards post merger.
This one I didn’t think of: a Reddit user who had been shut down by Capital One 5 years ago reports getting a shut down notice on their Discover cards, apparently due to the merger. Ouch, that’s a long memory and a long arm.
