[Live] Barclay Arrival+ 70,000 Point Sign Up Bonus, With Annual Fee Waived

Note: This bonus isn’t actually live yet. Looks like NerdWallet posted the deal early, I’m guessing we will see all links go live in an hour or two.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Signup for the Barclay Arrival Plus World Elite Mastercard and get 70,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 within 90 days.
  • $89 annual fee is waived the first year.

Card Details

  • $89 annual fee, waived first year
  • No foreign transaction fee
  • Points are worth $.01 per point when redeemed for travel (which makes the 70k signup bonus worth $700)
  • Double points on all purchases (effective earning rate of 2.1% back on all purchases)
  • There’s also a 5% bonus after redeeming points (redeem 60,000 points and get 3,000 points bonus, for example)

Our Verdict

Advertisements showing this offer have appeared before and we speculated that this bonus was coming and now we finally have it.  This is the highest bonus we’ve seen on the card, but previous offers were 60,000 points after $3,000 in spend with the $89 annual fee waived.

This is an extra 10,000 points for the exact same requirements. Generally with Barclays as long as you’re approved you’ll get the bonus, it’s just getting approved that’s the issue. I’ll be adding this to our list of the best credit card bonuses.

IMPORTANT: Last we know, Barclay’s has a 6/24 rule on the Arrival+ card. It may not be a hard rule and it’s possible something changes since then, but it affected most people who tried applying last time around. It’s worth reading 26 Things You Should Know About Barclaycard Credit Cards before applying.

Excellent timing on this one…was getting ready to apply for it.

Almost awesome timing. I was going to try for my 1st Barclay in January (5/24 atm) as I will have property tax, and insurance coming due.

I hope it stay until that time period.

Do you just eat the fee for property taxes or is there none in your region?

My county charges a little under 2.3% fee for credit cards, so net not losing much on a 2% rewards card and would quickly achieve the bonus.

Same. I’ve used property taxes to satisfy some of the higher spend requirements. My state charges 2.5% so you’re basically paying that 0.5% difference to get the sign-up bonus. Not as efficient as meeting the spend organically, but easy way to churn more quickly.

LC

actually.. its more efficient because then you can get another sign up bonus with your organic spend. more more more!!

I see only 60K if I click this link.

Barclay’s has matched a signup bonus for me before, but only through calling. Secure Message and Chat were turned down.

If only Barclays gave me a card
Stuck on their 6/24

So its $840, pretty good.
(70k plus 10k after 5k minimum spend requirement plus 4k (5% back) after redeeming the 80k).

There’s a 10k mile minimum on travel redemption. So after $5k spend, you’ll have 80k miles. If you redeem all of that for $800 to get the 4k bonus, you’d have to spend $3k more to reach the 10k mile minimum. Alternatively, you could redeem 72.5k miles, get a 3.6k bonus. Then without any additional spend you could redeem 11k miles. Total bonus value in this case would be $835.

“(70k plus 10k after 5k minimum spend requirement…”

Where is the 10k coming from?
I don’t see that mentioned anywhere in the writeup for this card.

5k minimum spend (earn x2 points per dollar) = 10k points

I’m assuming this card maintains the ability to transfer to Aeroplan at 1.4 cpp and JAL at 1.7 cpp?

What?

Not the same product. These miles aren’t transferable.

For Barclays, do business cards count against 6/24?

PJ
PJ

I think so. I applied for the business Jet Blue and got the “too many accounts recently opened” messgae

if it shows up on your personal credit report, then yes, they will count the biz card toward your X/24 status

Applied for this card a few weeks ago. I will be sending an SM to match this bonus. I also applied for the Aviator Business card the same day and got approved for both cards. Aviator bonus had recently changed to 50K from 60K so I have already sent an SM to match that bonus. I will update once I hear back from them.
