Our Verdict
Previously best bonus was 64,000 points. Free nights start at 6,000 points per night and go up to 35,000 points per night (properties in Australasia go up to 75,000 points). Worth signing up for if you have a specific use for the Choice points. We will add this to our list of the best credit card bonuses. Before applying for this card read these things everybody should know about Barclays credit cards.

I got approved, I’m at 5/24. $7200 CL. I like Choice for “just need a place to stay” type of redemptions. In the past I’ve gotten very good value at off peak travel times in super expensive cities like NYC and Boston.
We only have a Rodeway in town if I’m on shift… But I like Choice for Europe, especially in Nordic countries. Choice and Best Western almost have the same coverage in Europe as in the US. And the base level of service in Europe is much more pleasant.

I did this credit card deal during the summer when it was offered. Previously, I’ve done the Daily Getaways thing for many years to buy points at about a half cent each. I was running out of points (I didn’t know when Daily Getaways would return) and I find it useful to have cheap points in as many hotel programs as possible.
For most travellers, though, the Choice program is uninspiring. They have a few good redemptions at their better Ascend hotels, some remote USA locations and some foreign destinations, but most travellers may struggle to find a Choice redemption they want. With IHG routinely selling points at half a penny a piece, it almost always makes sense to buy IHG points and not Choice points at the same price. That said, a small stash of “free” Choice points through this credit card deal could make sense to some.
BTW, thanks to a brand new partnership between Choice and Citi Premier, it doesn’t really make sense to put additional spend on the Barclay’s card. If you have the ability to gin up spending at grocery stores, with Citi Premier you get 3 points for every dollar spent at supermarkets, and then get 2 Choice points for every Citi point. So that’s effectively 6x Choice points at supermarkets! No need to spend on the Barclay’s card when you can get that transfer ratio from Citi.
Just opened the card on 10/4/21 with the previous offer of 45K/1st 90 days, + 15K/1st 180 days. Does Barclay respond well to requests to match better offers if opened recently? What # would I need to call to get someone who might be able to help me?

Choice has two regions with very good redemptions.
1. Maui. 30k points a night. Nice beach across the street and way better point value than anything Hilton or Bonvoy offers.
2. Napa Valley area. They have three at 30k to be exact with better value than Hilton, Bonvoy or Hyatt. My favorite being the one in Calistoga. Calitstoga is the northern most town in Napa Valley, and this hotel clicks at every level. The king corner suite is awesome. Full kitchen and fire place. Plus, Calistoga offers a free shuttle to any winery in the area. Save serious money on Ubers.
Re 1. It’s actually 20k points in low season. E.g. end of November is 20-25k.
Just buy points from Daily Gateaways at 0.52c/p. The hotel is Kohea Kai Maui. 20-30k points/night. $25 resort fee even on point stays. A great value right now as cash prices are really high (around $300 before taxes for this hotel, other hotels are mostly $500+).
Maui is literally the reason why I went for this card. You can easily get 2-4 nights at Maui depending on the season you visit.
They also have some solid redemptions near major national parks.
On Sept 22, 2021, It looks like it is a 32,000 point bonus.
