BBVA To Stop Issuing Credit Cards (Last Chance $500 Deal) Due To PNC Merger

In November 2020 it was announced that PNC would purchase BBVA for ~$11 billion. Reader Tom just applied for the BBVA Select card (currently 50,000 points worth $500 after $4,000 in spend) and representatives told him that they would stop accepting applications for this card on June 16th, 2021 due to the PNC deal. Deal isn’t as good as the recent $1,000 deal, but that won’t be back before the merger so $500 is your best bet. You do need to either apply via phone or in branch and only available in Alabama, Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, California, and New Mexico.

Hopefully I just applied for a credit card thru their pre-qualify site and got approved as I know that PNC is super conservative and also stingy with their APR’s and credit lines if you are not a current customer.

Does it still seem to be the case that the BBVA Select requires a 100K income?

So I had a simple bank account that got switched to a BBVA bank account, will this now be changed into a PNC bank account? Had no idea about the merger.

Yes, they’ve been sending out communications to that effect for at least 4-5 months now, if not longer.

Thanks, I just became a BBVA customer because of the Simple merger. First I’ve heard of the PNC / BBVA. Haven’t received any communication to that affect.

Nothing would change before October 2021.
PNC will send out new routing and account number if necessary to change.

William Charles Now might also be a good time to do the $55 Swagbucks ck acct offer. I saw that today…but not sure if it would restart the clock for PNC ck acct bonuses after the merger.
