One of the interesting find I’ve made is the BBVA Compass Build Your Own Rewards program, where you get to choose at least one category to earn 3x points in, one of the cards also comes with a sign up bonus of $200 which should be enticing for some of you. We also officially found out how much BBVA CompassPoints & DoubleTriple rewards points are worth (you earn DoubleTriple points on the BBVA NBA card which earns 5x points on all purchases during two periods each year).

American Express made two important announcements this week, the first being that they would be launching the Plenti rewards program. This is a multi brand loyalty program and the amount of points you’ll receive varies from merchant to merchant, points are worth one penny a piece regardless of where you redeem them. You can use any payment method you like to earn Plenti points (including Visa & MasterCard), but American Express will also be issuing a Plenti credit card as well. We also found out that they would be partnering with Charles Schwab to release two new premium credit cards, I suspect these will be the same cards that they offer in partnership with Morgan Stanley, but only time will tell.

Best Western will be switching credit card issuers, they are no longer going to be issued by Barclaycard. We confirmed that the new card(s) will be issued by FNBO, but unfortunately we don’t know any additional information at this stage but expect an announcement soon. Barclaycard also removed the US Airways credit card from their website (although you can still apply for it), which I suspect means that soon you’ll only be able to apply for the new Aviator cards.

There were two bank account bonuses you should have taken note of last week. Bank of America is offering a cash bonus of $300 (and people have confirmed getting their bonuses already) and Ocean First bank is also offering a $300 bonus as well, but you need to live in NJ (this is a great bonus that Chuck completed last year) . We also updated our best bank bonus page for March 2015 as well. We also told you about a targeted $100 Wells Fargo bonus.
