Avoiding Fees
LifeGreen Checking, $8 Monthly Fee
The monthly fee goes from $8 to $10 if you opt for paper statements instead of online statements, but this bonus requires you to opt for online statements. The monthly fee is waived if you do any of the following:
- Receive a single ACH direct deposit, such as a recurring payroll or government benefit deposit, of at least $500, OR
- Receive multiple ACH direct deposits, such as a recurring payroll or government benefit deposit, with a total combined amount of at least $1,000, OR
- Have an average monthly balance of $1,500 or more (this is presumably calculated using a daily average and is not the same as a minimum monthly balance)
Early Account Termination Fee
There is an early account closure fee of $25 if you close your account within 180 days of account opening.
Referral Bonus $50
There is also a referral bonus you can receive in addition to this $200 bonus (bringing the total to $250). This has worked in the past, but it is no guarantee to work this time around. Do not share your referrals in the comments below, they can be found and shared here.
Our Verdict
Not as good as the $400 bonus, but better than the regular $200 bonus. I’m not sure if we will see that $400 bonus return anytime soon so it could be worth doing this bonus instead. There is some targeted language in the terms, but I think that just refers to need to register for this promotion before signing up. We will add this to our best bank bonus page.

Tried opening online more than a week ago, and I only got a pending review. Never received anything after that, so I went to my nearest branch to open a checking account in person. Took a long time, since I didn’t have an appointment. I did get the promotion email sent to me before I went, but it doesn’t have a code or anything. Just my name and email seems to be linked to the code, and the banker also agreed. Was worried the code wasn’t gonna apply correctly, but I can see the offer now on https://offertracker.regions.com/Account/Login?ReturnUrl=%2F Took a few days after opening to see the offer. Just need to send some money for a fake DD and then wait a couple months.
what do yall use for the $500 monthly ACH to avoid fees?
I just do a push / pull of $500 ACH from UFB
The system doesn’t let me open online. Next appointments is in November lol The bank has 2 ATM for the whole city.
Only accepts US Citizens. No option for Permanent Residents.
Permanent residents can open in branch
I received a mailer for a 500$ bonus, anyone else? Looks like the requirements are the same as outlined, 1000$ direct deposit. seems easy enough!
Mailer for 400 here
7/17 – Account opened
7/21 – $1xxx transfer from Ally
9/13 – $300 bonus posted
DP:
Online attempt failed, so had to go in branch. Took forever.
Sept 1 cash deposit
Sept 6 Account verification trial deposits showed up as part of my DD in the tracker (https://offertracker.regions.com/Account/Login)
Sept 11 Chase Biz ACH transfer registered as a DD, though a few days after it “settled” I guess.
$300 not deposited in account yet, but terms say it is “Anticipated by 11/10/2023, ” so 2 months.
My P2 got this in her referral email: “Get a $50 or $150 Visa Reward Card*
After you open a NEW REGIONS checking account and fulfill all requirements of the offer!”
So, not the $300. Pass. I’ll sign her up separately.
I am aware. Did you read my post?
That makes no sense. You’re not understanding my post. The offer she received says via referral says nothing about a $300 bonus. She’d only get a $50 gift card.
I did. And her email said “Get a $50 or $150 Visa Reward Card*
After you open a NEW REGIONS checking account and fulfill all requirements of the offer!”
No $300 offer in the referral.
You’re right, I am slow sometimes. I should listen to you more so I’ll get things right. Thanks for helping me.
I tried the method to get $300+$50 and it didn’t work for me. It doesn’t seem to stack. I asked for a referral on the referral bonus page on DOC. I clicked on the refer-a-friend email link sent to me by someone to register and inputted my basic information. I then clicked on the direct link to the $300 promo offer on DOC and made sure the $300 Promo Code was attached and signed up for the evergreen checking account. Two days later on the offer tracking page it has yet to show that I am enrolled in the $300 promo, only shows I am enrolled in the refer-a-friend $50 bonus. Either I did something wrong or this isn’t stackable any longer. This is the first time I’ve ever had an issue with a bank offer.
I do think they have been cracking down on past Regions customers who were referred in the past, and now they are not eligible for the referral bonus. And it’s my belief, they aren’t just looking at email addresses, so you cannot dodge it.
On my tracker side, as the referrer, when I manually push out the email to the new customer, they get to 100% completion but the status often ends up being “excluded”.
In the terms, it implies a customer can be referred 12 months from your last Regions account. However, they have a clause “If ineligible for any reason, no notice or reward will be provided.”
I chatted with Regions and asked, verifying it was not some new rule that I didn’t meet. They said the person(s) were not eligible. No details were provided.
As for you, it’s only been two days. However, filling out the form from a direct link is not preferred. It’s better to have the referral sent to your email, and then fill it out through the link in the email.
You are right, this happened to me. I used a referral from P2. Not eligible, even with a different email address this churn. It showed up on P2 tracker for a while showing qualifications met but then later it showed not eligible.
The alternate explanation is the only $50 referrals I am seeing “completed” are the people who don’t end up getting the bigger bonus. Stacking is dead?
I’m totally new to Regions. Never had an account before. I clicked on the link that was sent to me via email from the person who referred me (it was a regions email letting me know I’ve been referred and could get $50 if i do what was required), I clicked on the link in the email and filled out the info it asked for. It just asked for name, email. and basic info. There was no button to open a checking account or anything once I inputted that info so I just went to this page we are on now and clicked on the direct offer link to the $300 promo and opened up the checking account with the promo code applied. Only the refer-a-friend bonus is showing for me in offer tracking so far. I’ll wait a few more days to see if the $300 promo shows up.
Well, yes, I’d give it a few more biz days and then contact Regions and explain you signed up for the $300 offer and it’s not showing in the tracker. I don’t think you are going to get stuck with the $50 and not the better offer, but you may not get both if you have to “call the bank”.
Currently, and for at least the last couple of hours, the tracker has been down. “An error has occurred while processing your request. Please contact system administrator.” Can’t even get to the login screen.
The $300 promo finally showed up in the offer tracker for me. Took 4 days from opening account.
Nice. Thanks for the update. I’d love to know if do you end up getting both bonuses. That means they’re only targeting repeat customers
on the referral side.
7/18 – account opened
7/21 – account funding $50
8/02 – A2A transfer $550
7/25 – real employer dd $1000
9/13 – bonus posted $300
I never got an email saying the bonus requirements have been met and I did a push in the middle of last month. Does that mean I’m probably not qualifying for the bonus or do some people still get the bonus without the email confirmation?
I’m not 100% sure. For comparison, I used Chase for the push, not sure what you used?
Try and use Chase if you can.
