The Offer
Chase is sending out an email offer on the Amazon credit card:
- Get 2% cashback on all purchases until year’s end. Typically, card earns 2% on restaurants, gas, and drugstores; until year’s end, it’ll earn 2% everywhere, all while continuing to earn 5% at Amazon and Whole Foods.
Update: Other readers got an offer for 3% on travel:
- Get 3% back on travel purchases (up from 1%), max $5,000 in purchases are eligible.
The Fine Print
- Bonus not valid at Amazon or Whole Foods (those earn 5% and will not get the bonus 1% on top of the 5%)
- Must enroll your card by August 31, 2018
- Purchases must post to your account by December 31, 2018
Our Verdict
Seems to be targeted so far as I have not yet gotten this offer. It’s possible they’re sending it out slowly, we’ll see.
This offer could bring the Amazon card out of the sock drawer. There are lots of other 2% cards and everyday driver cards as well, as listed in this post.
Hat tip to reader John
Haven’t gotten either… would it be safe to say that all offers have gone out or do they typically roll out over the course of the week?
FYI – their support is useless and won’t make an effort to add either promotion to an account.
I also got the 3% travel deal on June 11. I wonder if it’s because I’m not a Prime member.
Probably not, I’m a prime member and I got the 3% back on travel deal too.
I’m thinking this is the Chase-Amazon partnership’s attempt to compete with the Citi-Costco and Barclay-Uber partnerships. These three cards have the widest number of rewards categories of this type of card. In each case, an aggressive partner seems to be pushing the bank to make the cards more competitive than the typical 3-2-1 cash card.
Just checked my email & got the 3% offer, will activate but don’t know if I’ll actually use it. I feel most people already have 3% travel cards plus a Double Cash or some other 2% card. It would have been more exciting if Chase had allowed the 3% to apply to all purchases with a max limit for the next 6 months or something similar.
Received the 3% on travel only 🙁

I got the same one.
Added, thank you
Does the 2% Back at restaurants works all over the world? I mean not only restricted to US restaurants.
Does anyone have a complete list of what it counts as travel purchase for Chase?
Never got the offer. has anyone had success calling them?
