[Expired] Chase Co-Brand Cards: Earn up to 4,000 Bonus Points with $1,000+ Purchases [Targeted]

These spending offers have now expired, click here for more Chase deals and news.

The Offer

Chase is sending out an offer via email on their cobranded cards to earn up to 4,00 bonus points. I’ve seen the offer for the Southwest and Hyatt cards; it might be on other cards too.

  • Earn 500 bonus points each time you make a purchase of at least $1,000 from January 15, 2018 to March 31, 2018.
  • You can earn 500 bonus points on up to 8 eligible purchases, for a total of up to 4,000 bonus points.

There is another offer on the British Airways card:

  • Earn 7,500 bonus points when you spend $7,500 or more

The Fine Print

  • To be eligible for this bonus offer, you must log on to the website referenced in this offer and enroll by 03/31/18 11:59 p.m. ET
  • You’ll earn an additional 500 points, up to a maximum of 4,000 points, for the entire promotional period, on purchases of $1,000 or more when you use your Hyatt credit card for transactions from 01/15/2018 through 03/31/2018
  • A purchase transaction must bill and post to your account in an amount that is equal to or greater than $1,000; for example, purchase transactions with items that ship at different times and bill in amounts less than $1,000 will not qualify for this bonus
  • Your bonus points are calculated each billing cycle based on the number of purchase transactions of $1,000 or more during the promotional period that falls within that billing cycle
  • Points earned in a monthly billing cycle are generally available to be used at the beginning of the next billing cycle; bonus points earned on purchases made near the end of a billing cycle may take up to one additional billing cycle to become available
  • You’ll see points you’ve earned on chase.com and on your monthly card billing statement
  • Credit card product changes during the promotional period will forfeit this bonus offer
  • To qualify for this promotional offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This promotional offer is non-transferable. This is a limited time offer.

Our Verdict

It’s only half-point bonus per penny, and mainly works out well for a card you’d want to spend on regardless. If you got the offer on the Southwest card, there’s the added advantage that these bonus points will count toward your Companion Pass threshold.

Just bear in mind that some online purchases end up getting split up by the retailer, better to use it for in-store purchases or for large, single purchases which can’t be split up. Let us know which cards you got this offer on.

Hat tip to friends Esther and Keith

What is the subject line for the email so we can look in our inboxes to see if this deal was sent to us?

For anyone who wants to do this (although I think you shouldn’t) nite that for the Hyatt deal you must do a single transaction equal or more than $1000 in order to eligible. What a shit offer lol.

Citi: “we can send out the worst offers possible for our CC customers and people will still use them.” Chase: “hold my beer.”

Isn’t Freedom Unlimited a better deal anyway if one has a CSR/CSP where they can transfer to Hyatt/Southwest? You get 1500 points for spending $1000 without any special offers.

Yes, this is essentially the same as using the Freedom Unlimited card, only the Freedom Unlimited lets you transfer to multiple partners. The BA card is 2x points, but you have to spend $7500, which is an insane amount. And that $7500 would have to be on categories where you’re not already earning at least 2-5x points on the CSP, CSR and/or Ink.

Thank you. Received the Hyatt offer today and initially thought at least it was 50% better than normal on non-bonus spend, but you are all absolutely correct that unless gunning for Explorist (which I’m not–$50K of spend for the privilege of four lounge passes), this is no better than Freedom Unlimited and actually worse in that you lose the flexibility of transferring to programs other than Hyatt. So I’ll be taking a pass on this one as well.

You gunning for $50k spend for Explorist status?
Otherwise, why not just use a Freedom Unlimited (assuming you have one)?

Not worth doing so if you have freedom unlimited. It’s basically 1.5 point and chase UR is more flexible.

dont do it man. its NOT worth it. its 1.5x vs 1x for non-bonus cats on the hyatt. fukn useless promo. chase FU is better with UR 1.5x assuming u have it. but i smell a RAT.

I had to re-read the details of the offer above because I thought it wasn’t that good, and yes it really isn’t. So no big loss that I didn’t get an email for any of my four co-branded cards.

Hmm.. I see Chase trying to sniff out MSers.. although they should know that any good MSer would rarely MS on these cards even with this bonus (with the exception of obtaining Explorist on Hyatt or SW CP)

I thought you couldn’t MS to Explorist status on Hyatt?

i got the “up to 4000 miles extra toward a companion pass, use Chase SW Premier to earn 500miles extra on purchases $1000 or more”.

So, if you need some EQMs, it’s nice. Otherwise, just use your CFU

finally. someone else is smart enough to question everything chase does with their promos vs noobs who just think its a free trip to HI with their SO on SW CP this summer.

if you still think chase doesnt know shit or is “looking the other way”, youre so deep into your ignorance that you have no hope. USB is the poster child of what is to come eventually.

I received this for my Hyatt card. What a Meh offer though

its worse than meh. its total shit for hyatt. 1.5x for non-bonus cats. totally useless. this is more like a rat trap. chase wants you to spend $1k x 8 times in a row!? wtf? GTFO chase. all for what? its gonna be damn obv if you MS 8k by march. BA is better since you can just hit something huge for 7500 like rent or mortgage just one time and get it done. much better than 8 separate transactions of 1k each all from the “simon malls” of the world.
