Chase Enforcing 90 Day Timeframe for Signup Bonus Requirement

For years now, Chase has been unofficially giving 115 days from signup for the spend requirement on the signup bonus, despite the official ‘3 months’ verbiage. When asked via Secure Message about how long you had, they consistently replied with with 115 timeframe.

Multiple Reddit reports (here and here) indicate that Chase reps are now replying with the official 3-month timeframe as the amount of time you have to meet the spend requirement, e.g. if you are approved on June 10th, they’ll say you have until September 10th.

Furthermore, the Chase online signup bonus tracker shows the 3 month timeframe as well. I’m unsure if it always showed that way there or if that’s a recent change (for context, that tracker has only been in existence for a few months).

It’s not clear if they changed the internal policy. At the least, they are now – at least publicly – shifting to the 3 month date as the official end date. One data point in the comments indicates that they still, in practice, give longer than 90 days. Another data point confirms this as well.

I recently got caught in a pickle, racing to make spend on the last days before the 90 days. I wasn’t even aware that cc transactions took multiple business days to post. I finally had my 3k spend post on the 90th day and the meter marked it as full and said that I made spend. Thank God.

Sounds like an epic short film entertainment.

This sux… sometimes it takes 2 weeks to get approved.

90 day clock starts from the approval date.. not application date

Its from time of approval, so what does it matter how long it takes to get approved?

I always thought it was from the application date that’s why it was 115 days.

It’s from approval date. I’ve had a rep tell me via SM which day I opened the account, and that the MSR window starts from there.

OK, good to know.
Thanks.

Changes the SW companion pass idea to apply in September and still have it post in January possibly.

I’m surprised the signup bonus still counts towards CP. You’d think Southwest would have shut that down by now, but maybe they still think it’s a net positive for them??

That’s why they doubled their prices.

Another Reddit post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/bx0vb8/question_thread_june_05_2019/eq2otg7/

We need someone brave (or unlucky) enough to hit the spend requirement on like day 100 or something to see if the deadline has substantively changed.

Hey! Sorry, I’m new at the US and this site is amazing! It’s very useful and me, as a newcomer, can learn fast to understand what products are existing in your market to use them in the future.
Recently I’ve opened 2 new accounts with Chase: checking&savings, using 2 different promos.
One was for $300 but with Premier checking (you need to maintain $15000 balance to waive the fee) and another is $150 for savings.
Now here I’ve discovered a great offer on $600 for both accounts and it’s just Total checking, so I won’t have to maintain $15000 to waive the fee and will get more bonus too.

What are my options as of now? I’ve opened them just 2 weeks ago, could I close them now and open a new one with a new promo? WIll I qualify for the bonus as a NEW customer, despite I’ve just closed another accounts?
Thanks!

Spend as fast as you possibly can.

Looks like I’ll be testing it out. Just found out my dad signed-up for a United Biz and has let 95 days pass. I’m planning on meeting MS for him today as an ’employee’ on the card. Will report back!

How strict is Chase in regards to Manufactured Spending? May need to do some of this to meet the minimum spend requirements.

The bonus tracker had been showing the regular 90 days from when I applied for the CIP in February. I originally met the $5k spend within 90 days, then fell below the $5k after the 90 days already passed. I got back above the $5k spend on the 94th or 95th day. I just received my 80,000 bonus 1-2 days ago after my statement closed

COUNTER DP!
I was able to message them a week back when, and they gave me more time then my approval date. Also its worth noting the tracker for my bonus did go away on 6/12, but purchase just a few days ago put it over the spend, and the tracker showed up as being completed.

On Aug 1, I met MSR for my CIP. It was 108 days after approval date. SUB is showing as pending. I will update if points do not post.
