[Expired] [Public Offer] Chase Pay: Get Extra 5x Ultimate Rewards at Best Buy, Ebags, and Tock with Any Sapphire Version Card or Freedom Unlimited [Max $200]

Offer has expired, view more Chase Pay deals here.

Update 9/12/18: Added public links below. We’ve confirmed with Chase that this offer is public for all Sapphire Reserve, Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire, and Freedom Unlimited cardholders, even if you didn’t receive the email. We’ve also confirmed that the $200 is combined so, for example, if you do $200 at Best Buy you won’t get credit for another $200 at Ebags. Each card should credit separately, though, if you have more than one eligible card.

The Offer

Sapphire Reserve | Sapphire | Freedom Unlimited

  • Get 5x bonus points when using Chase Pay at Best Buy stores, online at Ebags.com, or online at Tock.com. Max $200.

This offer has been sent out to some Sapphire cardholders (all versions) and on the Freedom Unlimited. The bonus is in addition to the standard earn on the card, resulting in 6x or 6.5x rewards.

The Fine Print

  • During the promotional period of September 1, 2018 to September 30, 2018, earn an extra 5 points on up to $200 in purchases at Best Buy® stores, online at restaurants on Tock and online at eBags® when you check out with your Chase Sapphire or Chase Sapphire Preferred card using Chase Pay.
  • Bonus points will post to your account within a week of the transaction posting, and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement and be available for use within 1-2 billing cycles.
  • Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period.
  • To qualify for this promotional offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
  • This promotional offer is non-transferable.
  • For more information about your rewards program, see your Rewards Program Agreement.

Our Verdict

Many have gotten this offer, but we haven’t yet found a public link so we’re assuming it’s a targeted deal. There have been similar promotions in the past which were public offers with a landing page – let us know if you find one for this deal.

Best Buy is probably the offer people will find most useful, just keep in mind that one if for in-store only. They do sell gift cards in-store, you may even find a $200 Visa gift card there with a $5.95 activation fee.

It’s not clear in the terms if the $200 limit is separate for each of the three merchants or if it’s all combined. If you got the offer on more than one card, you should be able to get the bonus on $200 per card.

Thanks to many readers who sent in this deal.

Can anyone confirm that Bestbuy no longer sells visa gc, that is, completely removed from their inventory system? I went to a local BB store yesterday and tried to buy the $200 vgc (only one left on the rack) and the register wouldn’t work. Tried on two different registers and both seem to unable to activate it. The cashier thinks that’s a bad card, but they don’t have another one to try. So this morning i called another BB store to see if they have any ( took 8 calls and exactly 1 hr for the store to pick up the phone, unbelievable!), the mean store clerk told me BB discontinued vgc 3 months ago. I know can’t be 3 months because i bought some probably one month ago.

Last year they got them in again about a week or two into December. I think they’re a holiday item. Similar story of cashiers not knowing much about them or having wrong information about them during the year, etc.

I was able to buy them every quarter of last year and never had problem with activating at the register. This is the first time and i even had the same friendly cashier to check me out. Therefore, i have a bad feeling that they indeed discontinued the card. If that’s true I’m at loss for my citi dividend card then as i have saved this year’s spending to this last quarter. Yikes!

Interesting DP – this is not actually expired. I did not do this in September, but began my 5x $25 spend for the 1500 UR bonus on Monday 10/1 by purchasing Amazon gift cards. Today, the first charge posted, with 25 points in +1 on all purchases, and 125 points on Chase Pay bonus. I made another $25 Chase Pay Best Buy purchase yesterday, 10/2, and two more today, 10/3, so we will see if these post with the extra 5x UR.

Another DP-second $25 transaction (from 10/2) posted today with the 5x UR bonus again.
William Charles maybe expired should be removed from post title?

Still working – two $25 charges made on 10/3 posted today, each with 150 UR. Did a $100 today so we’ll see if it goes all the way.
Should I be afraid of clawback of that bonus UR if I have to contact to confirm the October Chase Pay bonu for 5x $25?

Never got an email. Got 5x Chase Pay bonus from eBags using CFU with Chase Pay to checkout. Also worked at Best Buy using my CSR.

It specifically says “Chase Pay” bonus when I look at my UR activity for the transaction so make sure you are using Chase Pay and not Apple Pay or just your Chase credit card.

Anyone without being targeted got the bonus UR points posted? It doesn’t look good from the comments below…

Unfortunately it is not a public offer according to Chase representative. I have spent $200 at Best Buy but they told me that I wont get that extra 5 points back. I have a chase freedom unlimited btw. So don’t get fooled by this post it is TARGETED OFFER. I am pretty pissed about it to be honest.

Did you pay using the chase pay app or just using the credit card?

I was able to buy amazon GCs at Best Buy, don’t remember seeing these there last time I was there.

That’s like buying a target GC at walmart.. direct competitors.

I also showed the QR code for Swagbucks. $100 is the ideal price point for that, works once per day. So this will be 4 trips over 4 days with sapphire and freedom unlimited.

Do we have to register? I didn’t find an option for that.

I called and the Chase CSR rep said she is familiar with this offer. She checked my account and said I wasn’t eligible, the offer is only for select CSR cardholders and I was not one of them.

Anyone know if Tock codes as restaurant on the CSR?

It does code as restaurant hence 3x on CSR. My question when I see this offer is that will it then become 3x+5x = 8x for CSR on Tock?
