  • This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months. If you have the old IHG card, you’re still eligible to get this bonus/card.
  • Chase 5/24 rule applies to this card

Our Verdict

There is also a 140,000 point bonus, that offer doesn’t have the annual fee waived. This is 65,000 point less but you basically get/save $239. If you value IHG points are more than 0.367¢ per point then the other deal is a better option. This offer also has a slightly lower minimum spend requirement of $2,000 vs $3,000. I think most people will prefer the points offer, although given the current circumstances a mixture of points + cash might be more attractive. As always read these things everybody should know about Chase credit cards before applying.

“If you value IHG points are more than 0.367¢ per point then the other deal is a better option”

Shouldn’t this be more like 0.5 c/p since the 140k offer doesn’t waive AF? At 0.5 c/p, the 140k offer would net $611 and this 75k offer would net $614, right?

@William Charles, the pages says “If you currently have an IHG Rewards Club Credit Card from Chase … you are not eligible to receive another of the same credit card.” and it is my understanding that owning an old IHG Select card would make you ineligible for this bonus, since it is indeed “an IHG Rewards Club Credit Card from Chase”

After clicking “Offer Details” (and taking a screenshot) I feel good about getting this SUB while holding an IHG Select card:
Chase Offer Details
75,000 Bonus Points

This product is not available to either (i) current cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous cardmembers of this credit card who received a new cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.

The wording for this offer is not as straightforward as the 140k offer. To me there is a little uncertainty I would receive the IHG Premier SUB while still holding an IHG Select card.

This 75k offer: If you currently have an IHG Rewards Club Credit Card from Chase, or you earned a new cardmember bonus on that credit card within the last 24 months, you are not eligible to receive another of the same credit card.

140k offer: This product is available to you if you do not have this card and have not received a new cardmember bonus for this card in the past 24 months.

The annual fee and anniversary FN have both been posted to my Chase and IHG accounts this month. What if I cancel or downgrade this card now? Will the FN be clawed back?

Assuming Chase won’t match if you apply for this card and then ask them to match it to 140k offer?

I tried to get them to match an IHG offer several months ago and they basically said it would be an offer swap and I wouldn’t keep the $50 credit and 4x on all purchases for a year that was in my original offer if I wanted the additional 15k points.

You could certainly try and maybe get lucky but if you value the points go directly to the 140k offer.

Just to confirm – as someone who still has the old IHG card, are you allowed to hold both? I know you can’t do so with the Hyatt card after it was revamped, but I am a huge fan of the idea of having nearly two years worth of addition AFs covered for this card after the initial year is waived.

If you’re referring to the Select, it’s actually recommended you keep that open as well, as the benefits (10% rebate on that one, 4th night free on this one) stack.

I recently got this card with a 50000 point bonus. Would I contact Chase or IHG to see about getting the extra 25,000 points?

Chase. Unless it’s been very recent, you’re likely to not get the points – however, if you don’t ask, you definitely won’t.

So the $150 just comes straight off your balance, it doesn’t need to be used on an IHG expense?

Since nobody knows to what extent these points will be devalued over the next few months, I will gladly save some cash instead of hording points that won’t be used for quite a while
