Chase No Longer Offering Authorized Bonus On Sapphire Preferred Card

The Chase Sapphire Preferred card used to be offer 5,000 Ultimate Rewards points after you added an authorized user and made your first purchase. The card is no longer advertising this as a benefit/offer. The strange thing about Chase and authorized user offers is that often they don’t advertise a card has an authorized user bonus, but if it ever does then it always does (e.g sometimes it’s just not advertised and doesn’t even show in the terms, but you still get the bonus if that card ever offers an authorized bonus). Unfortunately TPG has confirmed with Chase that they have actually pulled the 5,000 bonus on the Sapphire Preferred card and it’s no longer being offered.

Looks like Chase is still desperately cutting costs wherever possible. We recently had them tighten the eligibility rules on this card and then remove price protection benefits as well.

Anyone have any luck getting their AU bonuses?

AU bonuses finally showed up after almost two months. People who were missing their AU bonuses should check if they finally showed up after all. (I’m talking about not so recent applications that had looked like there’d be no AU bonus even though terms said it.)

Is there a wider Chase policy eliminating AU bonuses? My SO applied for the Marriott Premier Plus when it launched with 100k bonus, no AU bonus in T&C that I saw. Added two legitimate AUs and made one purchase each before 90 days, no AU bonus.

Do all these devaluations have something to do with the $330 million charge from points?

I got CSP and CFU in early August and did not receive AU bonus on either.

Hate admitting this, but I am quickly losing interest in this CC game. All the banks were tripping over themselves to sign up new cardholders in say 2014-17. Now with the Fed doing them a solid with raising int rates every few months and the banks having significant % of customers revolving balances, they dont need more churners and transactors signing up. Well, in fact, they never NEEDED us, but that’s another story

Churrrrrrrnnnn & burn. Paid lotss of $$$ to credit card companies in my early 20’s when I lived off of them, turned the tide in my 30’s. Yeh, they remove a benefit here and there, but I still find ways to “benefit”.

William Charles “Your offers” still show AU bonus and 24 mo. in terms. Not sure if you knew that already for those who can see them.

The house is being dismantled brick by brick. 2016-2017 will be seen as the heyday of credit card rewards. I feel lucky to have lived through it. Our grandchildren will be in awe that banks once gave us airplane tickets to buy things we were gonna buy anyway.

What is the thought on somebody who applied for a CSP in the last 6 weeks and hasn’t yet added an AU but saw the AU bonus when they applied…

Think they’ll still get the 5k if they add an AU now?

My wife got the CSP early August. Set 13-y-o daughter as AU. Have gone through one spending cycle and had some URs post, but not the AU bonus. The “AU bonus” was in the terms offered. Might have to call about this one. I just figured it would post when we hit bonus spend. Will update if it posts

I am in a similar position, I got
CSP in late August and added my wife at time of app. I have had UR post for spend but not the AU bonus. If I do not see it soon I will be phoning as the bonus was in my terms.
