I got a referral bonus email to. It was my first referral, so I didn’t know that they used to not send out emails. I was pleasantly surprised!

Are these emails sent to those of us who only have credit card accounts with Chase, or do they go only to those who have checking accounts?

Chase bonuses post exactly what was written on the terms & conditions. If it says, bonus would be posted within 10 days of meeting requirement, it will post within 10 days unlike Citi.

CHASE is now watching you more than ever. Apparently the bonus confirmation email was also sent to the banker who opened my account. Got a phone call saying “Your bonus posted”, followed by the beginnings of a sales pitch about financial planning and generally nosey questions about the assets I have and what I plan to do with them. Not a big fan of bank reps snooping around in my account.

This has been a thing for awhile now… calling to see “how you are doing” after the bonus pops. Talked to them a couple times, and they slip into the convo that they see my bonus has posted.

I concur with your sentiment that I don’t like the snooping, but I believe it’s their right. (I would guess their system e-mail used to pop only on the banker side – now it’s two messages) They are hoping to build a lasting relationship – not a “3-6-month” stand. People that aren’t unaccustomed to bank bonuses are probably quite appreciative that they got “free” money and that it is available. Not everyone checks their account daily like churners. Remember back in the day you used to have to actually balance your checkbook and wait for a monthly statement to reconcile? Some, to a lot of people, still live that life.

One of the bank bonuses that are guaranteed each year.
