The Offer
- SoFi Invest is offering an unlimited 1% bonus to new or existing users who deposit cash (not ACATS) to the SoFi Invest account.
- SoFi Plus users get an extra unlimited 1%. That makes 2% total. (SoFi Plus costs $10/month and you only need to be a Plus member at time of initial deposit.)
- Funds must be maintained for 5 years.
Offer valid August 18 – 31, 2026. This is for a brokerage account only, not for IRA. The bonus is paid soon after initial deposits (not after the 5 years).

The Fine Print
- SoFi members are eligible for a 1% Match on deposits made into their existing or newly opened non-retirement self-directed SoFi Invest account (offered by SoFi Securities) or non-retirement Robo investing SoFi Invest account (offered by SoFi Wealth) during the Offer Period (the “Eligible Deposit”).
- For SoFi Plus members, this Offer can be combined with the SoFi Plus: 1% Deposit Match Offer, provided the qualifying deposits, holding requirements, and Plus status are independently satisfied for each offer. By combining offers, active SoFi Plus members can earn a 2% match on Eligible Deposits during the Offer Period.
- The Offer Period is from August 18 – August 31, 2026. SoFi may modify, suspend, or terminate the Offer at any time in its sole discretion without advance notice.
- To receive and retain the full value of this promotion, a SoFi member must maintain each Eligible Deposit in the SoFi Invest non-retirement account for five (5) years from the settlement date. Each Eligible Deposit shall be subject to its own independent five (5) year holding period measured from its respective settlement date.
- Deposit refers to an instant cash transfer from a SoFi Bank account or ACH deposit into either a non-retirement self-directed SoFi Invest account or non-retirement Robo investing SoFi Invest account during the Offer Period. The deposit must be settled before the end of the Offer Period to be eligible for the Match.
- For the avoidance of doubt, “Eligible Deposit” excludes Internal transfers between SoFi Invest accounts, Automated Customer Account Transfers (ACATs), securities transfers, interest, dividends, fee reversals, promotional credits, and other non-cash credits.
- The Match is calculated on each incoming instant cash transfer from a SoFi Bank account or ACH deposit. The Match will be earned only if your non-retirement SoFi Invest account is in good standing at the time the Eligible Deposit settlement. Matches will be paid in cash into the same account receiving the deposit within 5 business days of the deposit being settled, subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these terms. Funds deposited into a Self-Directed account will not be automatically invested unless you take action to invest them. Matches will not be paid out on accounts that are closed or pending closure. SoFi reserves the right to delay payment of any Match pending review for fraud, abuse, or violation of these Terms
- Example: If you complete a deposit of $1,000 into your non-retirement self-directed SoFi Invest account, you will be paid a 1% Match on your deposit, equaling $10.
- This Offer may not be combined with any other SoFi Invest offers unless expressly permitted by SoFi in writing.
- SoFi members must keep Eligible Deposits in the account that earned the Match for five (5) years to keep the entire Match amount. If a SoFi member makes a withdrawal before the five (5) year holding period is complete, they will be subject to an early withdrawal fee and SoFi will remove a proportional amount of the Match from the member’s account. The proportional amount is based on the breach in retention value, not retention period. To avoid this early withdrawal fee, the total equity of the SoFi member’s account (“total equity”) must at minimum equal the original pre-promotion total equity in the account, the qualifying deposit and Match amount. If a withdrawal causes the total equity to fall below this combined amount, the early withdrawal fee will be applied. For purposes of this Offer, “total equity” means the sum of cash the market value of securities in the applicable account, as determined by SoFi in good faith based on the account’s real-time market valuation at the time the withdrawal request is processed, as reflected in SoFi’s official books and records. SoFi may apply reasonable rounding or a de minimis tolerance to account for ordinary market fluctuations.
- The early withdrawal fee will also apply if the SoFi member initiates a withdrawal and the total equity has decreased, for any reason including investment losses. However, the early withdrawal fee will not apply if the SoFi member’s total equity has risen by an amount greater than the withdrawal amount, either by investment gains or additional deposits.
- The proportional early withdrawal fee is deducted from the requested withdrawal amount. In the event of an ACAT transfer out, there will be an early withdrawal fee for the entire Match amount. For clarity, an ACAT transfer out during the applicable five (5) year holding period will result in forfeiture of the Match associated with the applicable Eligible Deposit(s) that have not satisfied their respective holding period(s).
- To receive and retain the full value of this promotion, a SoFi Plus member must: 1. Be a SoFi Plus subscriber at the time each Eligible Deposit settles; and 2. Maintain each Eligible Deposit in the non-retirement account for five (5) years from the settlement date. Each Eligible Deposit shall be subject to its own independent five (5) year holding period measured from its respective settlement date.
- The Match is treated as taxable income and will get a form 1099
Our Verdict
With SoFi Plus this is a decent deal. Obviously the 5-year hold is the big caveat, but could make sense for someone who doesn’t like moving money around. (Last year SoFi offered a 1% bonus, but with a much shorter hold time.)
Since I don’t have a SoFi Invest account at all, I’d first open a new SoFi Invest account via Rakuten for the $150 bonus (or via Finder for the $150 gift card bonus) (be sure to meet those terms), then I’d enroll in SoFi Plus for the first month, then I’d transfer over cash to SoFi Invest. Then I’d either invest the cash in an ETF or buy SGOV to keep it as savings.
Personally, I don’t like doing brokerage deals with hold periods of more than 1-2 years so I’ll probably skip this one. We’ll still add this to our list of Best Brokerage Bonuses for SoFi enthusiasts.
