Last year Hyatt announced that top Chase Sapphire Reserve & Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholders would be able to earn Hyatt Explorist status. That benefit is now live and requires $75,000 in spend for personal cardholders and $125,000 for business cardholders.
Once spend is reached you receive status for the remainder of that calendar year and the following calendar year as well. Normally Explorist requires 30 qualifying nights or 50,000 Base Points per calendar year and provides the following:
- 20% point bonus on qualifying spend
- Room upgrades, excluding suites and rooms with Club access (based on availability)
- Complimentary premium internet (where available)
- Late checkout (subject to availability at some locations)
Earning status via these cards doesn’t entitle you to any base points or qualifying nights so it’s not useful for reaching Globalist. The Chase cards earn at the following rates:
- Personal card:
- 8x points on all purchases through Chase Travel, including The Edit
- 4x points on flights booked direct
- 4x points on hotels booked direct
- 3x points on dining worldwide
- 1x points on all other purchases
- Business card:
- 8x points on all purchases through Chase TravelSM, including The EditSM
- 5x total points on Lyft rides through 9/30/27
- 4x points on flights & hotels booked direct
- 3x points on social media & search engine advertising
- 1x points on all other purchases
Hyatt Explorist is nothing special and not worth chasing $75,000 in spend for, but I guess still useful for people that are putting that much spend on it naturally. Hopefully this means the new Chase Hyatt card is imminent.
