Chase Southwest Inflight Links Now Including Itinerary Details

File this under interesting but not particularly useful currently but when you take a Southwest flight you should see advertisements for the Chase Southwest cards. These links are currently offering a 50,000 point bonus, but what is interesting is that they are also now containing the specific itinerary details. For example:

https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/50kinflight?CELL=6T8K&orig=IAD&dest=DEN&flt=164&tail=N8611F&wow=offgnd

As you can see the origin is IAD and the destination is DEN. It’s obviously not unusual for airlines and credit card companies to do this sort of tracking, they always want to split test different offers and landing pages to see what offers convert the best. It’s also possible that in the future they could offer higher than normal bonuses in flight and then compare your flight details on your Southwest account to ensure that links aren’t being used by those not taking a flight.

I tested a lot of Chase URL variants when the IHG card was closing. I think the flight info, for now, is being used for analytics and not offer development. I know you said that, but I think they might have to change either what the URL is (outside of flight info) or significantly how the URL works in order to change the offer based on flight info. It isn’t impossible but might at least be an IT change of some sort. IIRC, the four character CELL code is usually what drives the specific offer, combined sometimes with 50kinflight in this case..

I think this will be used to test for people not on the specific flights to exclude people from bonuses ‘meant for other customers’
